In case you have not heard, colour copies are considered illegal, at least in Jalisco.

Reread what Mostlylost wrote.

When we renewed our DL in Guadalajara last month,  they would not accept a black and white copy of CURP. I was happy that we had color copies with us also.

CURP and now birth certificates when printed from the governments online websites are in color are considered original.  Also I saw a color CFE bill printed fom the CFE website accepted as original by the INE office in Jocotepec.

I believe the comments about color copies being illegal or at least not valid refer to physical pieces of ID like a Mexican Passport, driver's license, IFE/INE card and Carta de Naturalización, the Mexican birth certificate issued when naturalization is complete.

No Mexican birth certificate is issued when naturalization is complete.

Color copies of official documents or cards are not legal.

CURP or Mexican Birth Certificate downloaded from the federal websites are considered originals and need to be printed in color.

The Carta de Naturalización is often referred to as a birth certificate as it reflects the day one becomes a citizen but you're right that it is not a birth certificate in the true sense.

A naturalized citizen is not permitted to present a US issued birth certificate for any purpose in Mexico.

Not too long ago I was in Guadalajara getting a new drivers license.  Everyone I saw had the new color CURP paper.  I did not see any old ones.

A Carta de Naturalización is in no way considered, referred to, or considered the same, as the Acta de Nacimiento by the Mexican Government.  It merely gives you citizenship in Mexico.

You could lose your status obtained by a "Carta", not so with an "Acta".

Many of us got our CURPS more than 10 years ago. My original CURP card is in Black and white. It doesn't have to be in color does it?

You need to get the new large one in colour.

I tried to use my old card from FM2 days to renew a driver's license. They laughed and said I needed the new, single page form. Fortunately for a fee someone in the same building could print one out.

Why?

Who knows why? Because they say you have to.

Simple. The old ones were easy to forge and small. They are no longer valid for government requirements.

Takes 2 minutes to print a new original color barcoded CURP online. It is free.

If you don't have a color printer stop at one of the many internet rooms and pay a few pesos to use their computer & printer then print a few to use if needed this year.
