Donna G. Elliott
My feeders are being drained every night. This is April. Do they feed at night? Or is something else feeding on the sugar water ?

Natasha
Yes..... bats for sure. Take the feeders down at dusk, or only make enough to last until late afternoon. In this heat, the sugar/water starts to ferment very quickly anyway, and makes the hummers sick (vet advice). And soon the Orioles will return, and they will drain during the day... Bisbee Gal
Welcome to the world of Nectar Bats. We met them in Bisbee 13 years ago. I would simply take down my porch feeders and "hide" them under/behind porch furniture every night. Here we have nesting hummers who feed off our flowers and we don't bother with feeders. https://www.nwf.org/en/Magazines/National-Wildlife/2001/Journey-of-the-Nectar-Bats
Al Berca
I leave mine out and just cover the feeder with a small nylon mesh bag with a drawstring to protect the feeder from dusk until sunlight. The bats still show up but can’t get to the sugar water and eventually move on.
Guiness
We have a possum who enjoys ours.......................he has figured out how to slurp it right out of the feeder. Funny to watch!
