ARIBOY
Any experience with joint problems with Dr. Jorge Alejandro Molina Duenas, who comes from Guadalajara on Tuesdays and Thursdays and does his procedure in Dra. Justina Jimenez place (Clinica de Rehabilitacion Intergral) on the caretera in west Ajijic ( about 50 yards west of Yves restaurant) ? The doctor advises that his procedure for joint 'repair" is a 4-session procedure (costing 2,000 pesos each) . Session 1 involves injecting Ozone gas in the eroded joint to expand it and make dor future injections.space Sessions 2,3, and 4 a week apart each involve injecting one's own blood plasma (treated by centrifuge). Each session lasts 15-30 minutes total, and there is no lingering pain. The doctor used the following terms in explaining what he uses: Bio systema ( some kind of powder that is also injected with the plasma) Ozone therapy PRP ( Platelet Rich Plasma Injection into the joint) Terapia Neuaal ( alocal anesthetic) He claims he has been doing it for 7 years including one year at Lakeside. If anyone has experience with this doctor/procedure (especially relating to the hip joint). Please share your experiences, especially if you see improvements over the long run. RickS
So I'm wondering how someone who has only posted ONE message here.... the one above.... but knew to come onto this Forum an give a great testimonial to this doctor's procedure. A grain of salt comes to mind, but then I'm just skeptical about things like this I guess.
mudgirl
I would be skeptical of the "testimonial" above, too, Rick. And in response to a post that's over a year old, no less. I do have a neighbor, though, who has been getting stem cell treatments in the PV area and says they've helped him a lot.
RickS
Yes, stem cells and PRP are/can be very useful in attacking soft tissue problems. Can even 're-grow' cartilage and can be an answer instead of surgery. Takes a long time 'tho...is not an overnight 'cure'. As with any 'new' procedure, the field gets flooded with quacks pretty quickly. Research, research, research should be the mantra.
Guiness
She helped me alot. I had Pro injections into my spine for severe spinal stenosis, terrible pain. Now, no pain!

Now, no pain! You said "Pro" and 'she'. Did you mean Prp? Did Dra. Justina Jimenez do this injection? Was there any kind of Fluoroscope used to guide the needle into the spine? Did the relief come immediately or take weeks or months? I am not trying to be difficult but IMO if one is going to give testimonials I think more info is needed to be of value. 'Now, no pain' is probably not enough info to be of value to someone who is considering RPR and/or Stem Cells. Might even be mis-information. AngusMactavish
How powerful is the placebo effect? The placebo effect is powerful. In a study carried out at the University of Harvard , its effectiveness was tested in a wide range of disturbances, including pain, arterial hypertension and asthma. The result was impressive: 30 to 40% of the patients obtained relief with the use of placebo. Placebos can be equal to the effectiveness of stem cell "therapy".
bmh
The mind is very powerful and when you are in pain , you welcome anything that works..so if it is placebo , be it.

thevalerieleigh
I went for a single stem cell injection in my left hip as my cartilage is almost gone after 51 years of dancing on it. I forget the man's name, but he also comes from GDL and provides this service in Dra. Justina's Clinic. I had an x-ray before the procedure to confirm my suspicions of diminishing cartilage. He told me to wait about 5-6 months and get another x-ray. I did and my cartilage is growing. I can only speak for my experience but I'm grateful I caught it in time while I still had cartilage for the stem cells to initiate re-growth. I did research before choosing this procedure and these practitioners. As always, do your own research and determine what you feel is safe and in your best interest. Stay safe out there! RickS
My wife had the 'same' experience with cartilage in her hip about 16 months ago using stem cells from her bone marrow and PRP, said injection(s) guided by fluoroscope. She also had a 'bone cyst' there that was 'treated' and that has also been helped. The procedure was done in the US (Colorado). Yours was from 50 years of dancing and her's was from 40+ years of a small woman riding big horses!

Guiness
I suffered with extreme back pain for over 25 years. Have degenerative disc and facet disease along with many other spinal.issues. Dr. Justina is a miracle worker, after 2 series of injections of stem cells, I am pain free and able to walk, garden etc. More than 4 specialists told me that I needed a full lumbar spinal fusion. So very happy I found Dr. Justina.
RickS
Guiness, how long after "2 series of injections of stem cells" did you become pain free? Could you also define "series". Gracias

Could you also define "series". Gracias Sure Rick. I had a consultation with Dr. Justina, she reviewed my CT and MRI scans. She suggested one treatment that consisted of approx. 6 needles inserted into the lumbar area, very deep. She freezes the area topically first so it isn't at all painful. Feels similar to getting a needle at the dentist. You wait 3months then if you feel less pain, she does the procedure one more time. After my first treatment, it was 30 days approximately and the pain had lessened. After the second treatment, within one month, completed pain free and I have stayed pain free for over a year now. Dr. Justina uses stem cells from a placenta from a highly reputable scientific clinic in Guadalajara. The cost per treatment was 8,000 pesos. I would not hestitate to go for another treatment should any of the pain return. Very best to you, good luck.

I took similar treatment but it did not work for me also I think SC treatment is considerably more expensive
