Herman
What lab do you use for blood work? I usually go twice a year.

Al Berca
Me, too. Formerly called ISIL lab. Reports are easier to understand and more explanatory than other labs I have tried. Plus, the phlebotomist hits a vein on the first try every single time, which is a real challenge with my hidden veins.

Never had so much as a pinch when they've drawn my blood and results are always ready when they say they will be. I'm betting they're less expensive than those that cater to extranjeros, too. GeorgiaPeach
Dilabim behind Oxxo on Libramiento - we usually use them except for this past Monday - my husband had a medical issue and the Dr. sent him to their lab for blood work. The cost was over 2000mx and they do not take a credit card. I went to Dilabim for a comparison and the cost was 700mx less and they take credit cards. The difference between labs here can vary quite a bit. Think we will stick with Dilabim from now on.
Ferret
I don't know how other labs report results but I do like the way Chopo (next to Dermika) reports theirs. They put the results in three columns... high, normal, low....and also give the normal ranges. It is easy to zero in on any problems. I also like the speed and promptness of their e-mail delivery to your address as a PDF. Makes it easy to keep a file of results in date order. AlanMexicali
Chopo has state of the art equipment. Their high resolution - high definition ultrasound machine looks like an MRI tunnel. Their prices are competative. They have Dr.s there to evaluate and comment on the results before you take the test to your specialist. Of course the specialist is the last answer to rely on. Ferret
Thank you Al Berca! I didn't know that and the one by the Maskaras Clinic is much closer to me in Riberas.
El Bizco
At the Chopo next to Dermika, the Chopo sign is gone and now it says ISILAB. Their on line ad says "New lab in Ajijic" and makes no mention of Chopo. Going online to Chopo, they make no mention of Ajijic, just Riberas. So, it seems they have reverted to ISILAB. I use Chopo next to Dermika because they use gloves to draw blood. The one by Maskaras Clinic does not. I am not afraid of what I might get but they should be afraid of what they might contract. i.e. hepatitis.
Aquaponicsman
I just used Bestlab in Riberas for the first time at the recommendation of a neighbor who was very pleased with them. They are very thorough, especially at intake to make sure you are getting the correct tests for why you are there and have packages of tests that are available that are more thorough and less money than a battery of individual tests you request. The thoroughness of the intake procedure (fluent English, but mixed English and Spanish in my case) made me feel much more comfortable that they were going to do the tests correctly and I would not have to pay all over again at a different lab, which has occurred a few times in the past. Pricing was the same as other labs for the same work. I just had a full liver panel done (Perfil Hepatico) that contained two more tests than requested and was much less money than the individual tests I requested (at the instructions of my doctor.) Needless to say, my doctor was delighted to see the additional tests and accused me of watching too much Gray's Anatomy to know to ask for the additional tests. <g> They e-mail the results to you and your doctor (if requested) immediately. They are in the old Parker Insurance building, in between the new clinic and Tienda Pilar, in that same shopping center. Bestlab Laboratorio Clinico Hidalgo 248A col. ibarra
I received an email from the lab next to Dermika, whatever they are called now, ISILAB or CHOPO, offering an annual membership for 199 pesos. Includes some free tests and discounts on other tests and services. I deleted the email before I thought to copy it to this forum. Sorry. Worth going there and asking about this promotion. Every time I have been there the technicians have been bilingual.
Guiness
BEST LAD - by far the "best".. Owner Fransisco and Gabby are amazing. I highly recommend them. Stay away from GO LAB in Maskaras Plaza. Had two tests done that were both "very wrong".

All of their reports, including one I picked up last week are using the Chopo letterhead, not ISILAB as they did in the past. Also, asked the two young women who have worked there since the lab opened and they both said they are now part of Chopo. My receipt was also Chopo. Also, talked to the receptionist at the Maskaras Chopo who agreed. I asked because I was doing some price comparisons and the two Choposwere giving me different prices for same tests. This was explained to me by saying they both used different labs for their test results. Sounds strange, but that is what I was told. And the last time Chopo posted on their FB site was July of 2017, almost two years ago.
