Tonala/Tlaquepaque

Recommended Posts

We're checking out Tonala/maybe Tlaquepaque for the 1st time next week on non-market days without any specific purchases in mind. (We have a parking spot in mind already.)

- Would you recommend Hotel Hacienda del Sol at Cruz Blanca 44 for easy walking?

- Do you know a specific copper workshop?

- Are there any places (made to order furnitures, arts or whatever factories along Av. Tonaltecas we shouldn't miss and that you like?

(Anything about the place comes to your mind.)

Thanks a million!

Lily, you might want to look into Quinta Don José in Tlaquepaque, a lovely hotel.  It's a longtime favorite and centrally located at Reforma 139.  http://quintadonjose.com/

I don't think you'll find copper workshops in Tlaquepaque.  Copper is made in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán.  You might find a shop or two that sells copper, and there might be one workshop.

Don't miss the wonderful ceramics museum at Independencia 237, Tlaquepaque.  https://www.mexicoescultura.com/recinto/66052/museo-regional-de-la-ceramica-de-tlaquepaque.html

Lily, we have stayed in Hacienda del Sol and it was fine. We parked in their garage and drove where we were going, as we were getting large pots needing loading, so can't advise on walking. The price is very reasonable. I agree with More Liana, as we have been to Santa Clara del Cobre in Michoacan. Well worth the trip for Copper info, workshops, purchase. Good luck.

P.S. More Liana is a resource with a wealth of experience and vast knowledge of Mexico. You can PM her and she will respond.
