I can tell you a little about this. When we lived in Puerto Vallarta the place had a side table with a parota slab from the 1960's - it was 2 inches think, 30inches across, and about twelve feet long. Amazing. The bar downstairs renovated, and they found a parota slab which was big, but not as big as the old slab. They supported it like a wooden plank at the two ends. It warped like crazy, with a large dip in the unsupported middle. So the point is to support the slab all around - it may have not been dry kilned at all.
