Natasha
I know this has been discussed before, but after long, hot day in Guad too tired to search. Can one get an MRI out here? Approx cost? (left hip) Gracias
gringal
As of now, not yet. The two new hospitals being built "may" have them. We can hope.
John Shrall
Prices vary a lot depending on the lab. The CID lab on Av Americas near Patria has super new equipment. A knee MRI cost about $5,000 pesos, add about $1,200 for contrast if needed. You can also add sedation if you have to go all the way in and are claustrophobic. slainte39
The new hospital in SAT on the Carretera is or will, but probably not until April. The other new hospital in SAT on the Libramiento. I can´t speak for, maybe Dr. Hernandez will weigh in.

Dream on..these machines cost big bucks and need high utilization in order to be profitable.......maybe just maybe the owners of this hospitals will start recommending "every" patient needs a MRI..even if you go in with a cold....that could be the answer
slainte39
I hear you, like some cardiologists think everybody needs a pacemaker. The Chopo lab that is leasing space in the hospital that will be on the Carretera is a big chain of labs all over Mexico. I suppose they could bring their older machines from Justo Sierra in GDL to SAT and put new ones there…..more traffic…..or maybe the new ones here, hard to say. Natasha
Thanks to all. The condition is real and the MRI is definitely NOT a "go for the bucks" situation. Need it now. Know places in Guad but was hoping to avoid 2 trips.... one for the MRI and getting results, and another for going back to trustworthy surgeon. Sigh...... making appt. right away. RVGRINGO
OH, OH ! A Catch-22 in the making: People with pacemakers don't get MRIs, due to the huge magnetic field that would disrupt or destroy the pacemaker. A CAT scan is OK. John Shrall
The labs we've been to in Guadalajara have the films, CD and report ready in an hour or 2.

Some devices are "MRI-conditional". It depends on the type of pacemaker you have. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/are-mri-scans-safe-if-you-have-a-pacemaker-or-implanted-device/
Natasha
Don't have a pacemaker, and prosthetic hip is ceramic/titanium so no problem there. FYI Salud Digna has best price by far, but no appts. for a few days and minimum 4 hour wait for results. Two places over by the Basilica in Zapopan had great prices and better pick-up time but NOT willing to drive all that way! TOLSA has their MRI/CAT scan area being remodeled so cannot do these days. Chopo / CARE on Justo Sierra has better price than many others IF you have INAPAM card.
