bmh
In some cities the dog owners are warned that a loose dog s a dead dog and they kill the dogs wandering around so all cities are not the same.

But perhaps officials regulating the park can be persuaded to post a sign and the ticket taker can be persuaded to gently admonish dog owners to leash their dogs for safety to other park users. Not sure if at this point, more can be done legally or administratively. I can attest to the fact that nothing has been done about unleashed dogs on the Ajijic malecon. One man brings about 5 dogs who run in different directions out of his sight, so he wouldn't know if they pooped or not. This would be around 7:30-8:00 a.m. except weekends. Unless your dogs are trained to properly respond, and come to you when called, you have no business with them off leash in a public park. I agree with that one. To have your dogs off leash and under control, requires a lot of hard work. It is a privilege, not a right. Sort of like wearing Spandex tights in public 😎. CHILLIN
Let us not forget that the Patron Saint of Chapala is Saint Francis of Assisi, known for his kindness to animals. Stray dogs, no collar, dirty, looking hungry, are picked up and euthanized in record numbers in Guadalajara and CDMX. 5000-6000 per month Guadalajara, 10,000 per month in CDMX. Yes, that is per month.

As far as the unfortunate death rate is concerned, this has to do with another area of personal responsibility: getting animals spayed.

gringal
Dogs unconfined in the country often end in packs which destroy livestock. Responsible owners keep them on their own property. The old fable applies to something entirely different.🙃
