Noreen Klupsch
is there anywhere in Chapala to get my drivers’ license renewed?
WideSky
Nope; office was closed here several years ago; you can renew when they do come lakeside but can't say when that will be.
tomgates
There is an office in Guadalajara that is pretty easy to find if you have some basic familiarity with the city. On Lopez Mateo, north of the Periferico, stay on the lateral and go thru 2 intersections and take a U-turn at the 3rd and come back south on the lateral and pull into a Soriana parking lot (costs a small amount). Proceed a 200mt back north to the DL office. You can also use one of several facilitors that will take you.
ibarra
... It is in the Plaza de Torres across from the tall IMSS Hospital on Lazaro Cardenas as you come into the city from Chapala. You take 8 Julio exit and park in the plaza's lot, ... I copied the above information from a previous post found by using the "search" option. Joanie
I recently renewed my license at the Plaza del Torres and it was super easy. You don't need a facilitator and don't need to speak Spanish. If you go by cab, you don't need to make the cab wait for you because it's in a shopping center and there are cabs everywhere for your return home. Check your documents carefully. If you're missing a copy, there's a copy center next door. They take your photo there, so don't bother having pictures taken here. Plaza del Torres is easy to find, has several coffee cafes and is very accommodating to non-Spanish speakers.
AngusMactavish
There is another place to get a new or renewal where you will not be overwhelmed by the experience. This office is an example of how government can be run and I encourage any and all to visit with them. Go to the casino (mall) shown on the link, walk to the back and go up the only stairs. https://www.google.com.mx/maps/dir/Chapala,+Jalisco/20.3666468,-102.7702005/@20.4414019,-103.1262018,11z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m10!4m9!1m5!1m1!1s0x842f4649cace3245:0xb9d3387438ef9c7f!2m2!1d-103.1889464!2d20.2971255!1m0!3e0!4e1?hl=en
