cedros
I have a quilt that needs cleaning. The tag on whether it needs dry cleaning or washing is no longer there. My washing machine has a setting for quilts but I wonder. I have never had any dry cleaning done in Mexico or should I just take it to a place that washes large items? The nearest dry cleaner to me is the one in west Ajijic in the area of the Casa de Waffle. Does anyone have any comments on how that place is for cleaning? ibarra
Personally, I would have it dry cleaned. We have used the dry cleaner that you mentioned many times. We have had two comforters dry cleaned that are brocade and expensive. No problems.
rvanparys
Ditto on Ibarra's recommendation... We have used them repeatedly for bedspread cleaning... Excellent work at fair prices...
Ellie
As a long time quilter, I've washed my large collection of quilts, mine and antique, in tHe washing machine on delicate or hand wash using a mild soap for many years. Not brocade of course. If it had washinG instruction tag, then it is most likely not handmade and even so, many Quilter's wash their quilts. Lightly dry and then spread out if not completely dry. stuphel
You can probably wash it, but dry cleaning is not expensive, and the place in West Ajijic does a good job. I also recommend them for clothing alterations.
cedros
Thanks for the replies. I will try that place in west Ajijic. It is a quilt for a king sized bed so I wonder if it would be too large for my washing machine.
daisy2013
I have 2 king size quilts both hand made, and the dry cleaners mentioned above did a great job. They look brand new. I would definitely have them clean there again.
