ea93105
Currently plumbing to have shower and laundry water diverted to a roof top storage tank. What kind of filtration and or treatment is recommended here before use on plants and grass ?
mudgirl
My grey water from kitchen sink, bathroom sinks , showers and washing machine go directly through 2" pipes with holes drilled in the bottom side of them routed to various areas of my garden, not into any tank. No filtration or treatment at all.
dichosalocura
What about the usage of hand soap, dish detergent and laundry detergent, does any of those have any harmful effects on your plants? Would you also feel good about routing it to a vegetable garden, or just only on floral plants and trees? Just curious, sounds interesting, but all those detergents sound like they could possibly have some negative effects without having a way to filter them first. utilitus
Don't have personal experience with GW, but one site states, "Don’t store greywater (more than 24 hours). If you store greywater the nutrients in it will start to break down, creating bad odors." Bisbee Gal
We drained our washing machine directly to our backyard at our AZ home...that area was always the greenest and the quince tree which got much of the grey water was always fruitful. We do not use straight chlorine bleach with our laundry; that might be an issue??
fordtruckman
I lived in a home in Chapala that diverted the washing machine waste water to the garden/avocado tree. Biggest, tastiest avocados!
