How will the US climate report affect Mexico?

This is so far off the rails that it has its funny side.  On the one hand,  there are scientists whose life work is studying these matters.  Here, we have  profound pronouncements from civilians.  This is a tough one.  Who would a sensible person believe?🙄

That is, if you believe that these "scientists" are coming from US universities which promote an independent thinking. I do not.
They promote collective thoughts and others are not welcomed.
Masses are so easy to brainwash (history proves that). Most useful science came from independent thinkers and
they often battled with a common "sensible"  wisdom of that time.
Of course (as always) this is just my opinion and everyone else's might differ.
And....not all "civilians" are uneducated.

All the best and keep warm and safe.

FAKE NEWS!!! Show me the proof... for every "study" claiming so I can show you one that it is not so although these do not get published by the fake news. This has become a huge money grubbing industry and the gullible public is falling for it.

Seriously? No, you can't show me one for one. Not even close. Not even in the same universe. And again, I don't need to prove poop to you. You can run around shouting that moronic "fake news" war cry all you want. It changes nothing.

Like present Canadian Government  example :  kill industries and put people out of work. Then legalize a marijuana to ameliorate their suffering and get revenue from this new "clean agricultural" industry. Way to go, Bravo.

Do a little research before continuing your pointless diatribes against an entire government entity. Research: defined as not relying on denial media for all your opinions.

Also, the instant you tell me "scientist" is a dirty word is the very moment I don't bother listening to anything you have to say.

I quoted your diatribe so that you can't change it or delete it. Wow. No way to even start commenting about a statement that contradicts itself.

What about all this FAKE rain today huh ? … Am I the only one who wants to throw up when I hear this propaganda term thrown around so readily ? Sure there are some contradicting opinions to almost anything ( the validity can be argued ), but the overwhelming evidence is that mankind is pushing this planet towards rapid warming and when the buried methane starts venting..look out.

Mankind is greedy and there is nothing that will change that. GM stopped building fuel efficient cars because they don't sell, because gasoline is practically being given away in the US so there is nothing discouraging consumers from buying SUV's. How many F150's are there driving around with just one person getting 17 mpg at best ?

The only solution to slowing the influence of mankind is to reduce population and good luck with that.

I'm not saying the herd should be thinned, but there are so many more influences encouraging and promoting having many more children than there are the opposite. Tax breaks, shows celebrating "19 kids and counting"  etc.   It's not sustainable.

Tax breaks not sustainable?...give ME a break!

And regarding your other post regarding gas guzzler vehicles...I drive an old F-150 and love it. Thank God that freedom of choice is still available, although it is looking more shaky as all these "movements" gain more momentum. Lets hope common sense prevails.

There you go...and I thought that I was being funny. Sarcastic actually. Canadian Government is indeed very popular with all the ideologues in the world but the business and investments are leaving in a hurry. And that is a fact. Sorry that my choice of words offended you as Canadian.

And as to my "science"  comment ....I would probably react the same way as you  if I would not work big chunk of my life in the field.

First: I did not call all scientist "dirty". That are your words not mine or interpretation of what I said..

I can say with authority that not all the science and scientists are created  equally. "Science" is very bendable..... depends who funds it and who benefits .  Yes, I am worried about the young minds being easily manipulated. There is plenty of unethical activity within the noble organizations and some can be very dangerous.

You are entitled to your opinion and I accept the fact that we see a world around us differently. You do not want to listen what I have to say....fine. I am not offended.

I read your comments since you moved here  to help your mom. About a decade ago? I do not always agree what you have to say (or how)  but I respect you for many reasons.  So I will read your posts as long as we will have interest in this area. Some of us judge people by their hearts not their words.

It is time for me to leave this thread.

15 years, yes. And with luck, you and I can be civil. But you are so, so wrong about Canada's business policies. Investors are not leaving in a hurry, and that is the fact.

You didn't use the word dirty; you just made the word scientist sound dirty. I've worked in a variety of arenas, including the Canadian Medical Association, and I think we're all old enough here to know the differences that science can invoke. As they say, it is not a science.

The climate report released last friday is scary. How will it affect mexico?

HarryB, perhaps you would like some answers to your question.  A search  in Google, "how climate change affects Mexico" showed hundreds of articles.  A few are here:

Checked the national deficit lately ? Why are there tax breaks to have children ? Yes, everybody has freedom to drive gas guzzlers but it's wasteful to drive such a heavy duty vehicle for simple passenger commuting which is largely the case in the US at least and there millions of them doing just that. I can tow almost as much with my VW Golf as your F150 and I get  50 mpg vs 14 for an old F150 probably.

One of the main attractions for us to move here was the ability to walk for many errands, to not have to burn a bunch of fuel to heat and cool and to need the car a great deal less.  There we had two cars that routinely racked up 10K miles each per year.  Here we have one, compact and very decent mileage that gets driven about 4K per year in Mexico plus our annual medical and shopping trip to Texas.  We also consciously group errands to cut down on car use.  It is not at all unusual for that car to sit in the garage for nearly a week at a time.  There usage of one or more was daily.

Here we are able to use solar panels to make most of our power needs, which are sharply lower since we no longer run air conditioners.  Just low power consumption fans for a few months of the year.  I've made a number of improvements here to lower power consumption further including more efficient motors and much more efficient lighting.

Easily our energy consumption is less than 20 percent of what it used to be.  Yet we live very well and the extra walking is healthy and enjoyable.  We can't do anything about the world's biggest polluter other than avoid stuff made there as much as possible (and that is not much).   I urge everyone here to look at all the ways you can reduce your energy footprint and not beat each other up over stuff we really have no control over.

The deficit problem is the government spending too much money. Drain the swamp and an get rid of the lifelong politicians who keep getting reelected by promising goodies to everyone. I am about to read a book titled How Democracies Die and I am sure that they will point a this as a leading cause.

Right! No more politicians!  Wait, why do we need a government at all?!  No more governments! Down with government!

How dictators take over is is as Margret Thatcher said "Socialism is great until you run out of other peoples money" Was not the greatest example of this

Of course not!  We only need The Leader!  He knows everything and is the only one that can fix everything!  He doesn`t anyone`s help with the answers!  Remember, he`s a genius!

I rarely comment on these forms, however as a Canadian living in Canada, teaching at a college I have to support "Islander", it is a fact that businesses and investors are leaving Canada. We are now run like a banana republic where even approved projects are shut down and our personal and corporate taxation rates are extremely high. Our debt is out of control and we have done nothing to help the planet.

For a Prime Minister who cares so much about the economy he sure flies around in an empty plane a lot.
