How to make a fly trap

Many of the open air restaurants in the Lake Chapala area are bothered by flies.  I am surprised they don't use fly traps.  If you are bothered by flies at your house anyone can make one or as many as needed.  Simply when you finish a one liter plastic bottle of soda pop, punch some small holes around the top with an ice pick or something.  The holes should be small enough a fly cannot crawl through.  These holes allow the smell aroma from your bait to get out, next you put some bait in the bottle,  I use sugar water but almost anything smelly will do.  You  put a small plastic funnel on top of the bottle. The tip of funnel must be big enough for fly to crawl through.  Once inside it is virtually impossible for fly to get out.  He can't fly out and the shape of the funnel makes it very difficult for the fly to walk out.   The trap is almost self baiting.  As the flies die they attract other flies with their smell of bait and dead flies.  When ready to dispose of flies simply remove funnel,  put cap back on bottle and throw it away. This trap will get flies, wasps and unfortunately bees.
