Caramel

Or you could just make it...I'm absolutely not a cook (don't ask about my exploding boiled eggs), but it's super-simple to make and you can customize it for your own preferences. I like a buttery/slightly salty flavor and you just can't find that very often. Just go online (food.com, etc) and you'll see what I mean.

Cajeta comes in several varieties.  The most commonly found brand is Coronado, sold in bottles and jars of various sizes.  One variety is "quemada", which is known in other Spanish-speaking countries as "dulce de leche".  One is vainilla--flavored with vanilla.  Another is envinada (flavored with wine).  Another presentation is chiclosos--what you might know as caramels in the USA and Canada.

Caramelized sugar is not the same as cajeta, as it contains no milk (or milk by-products).  Caramelized sugar is used for many things, including making the delicious syrup that tops flan, but I don't think it would be the right thing if you actually need caramel for your purpose.
