cookj5
We are on Shaw Direct TV here in Ajijic. The buttons on our remote control have been gradually becoming non-functional. We've lost the ability to control volume, move up the list of channels, mute the TV, or use the 0 button. Does anyone know where in the Lakeside area to get our Shaw Direct remote repaired or replaced?

ComputerGuy
Try this; it does miracles. Take it apart by prying the edges with a spudger or kitchen knife (don't use a screwdriver; it'll crunch the plastic). Clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol. Use Qtips. You may not even see any dirt on the Qtip, but it will definitely clean the contacts. You might also want to clean the rubber buttons on the inside with soap and water. This is the fix for remotes that slowly lose their functionality. OR: Mike Merryman, Satellites Ajijic. 766-3371 766-1117
Oatsie
I can highly recommend a Logitech Harmony 650 remote. I used fine steel wool on the plastic boards and alcohol on the black contact patches, now they work fine. You'll need a very small phillips screw driver to remove two screws first
nothernewbie
I found apps for both my Samsung TV and Roku. Put on an old phone and they both work like charms.
