Wookie
Does anyone have a recommendation of a beach house rental? Any nice beach where it is reasonably quiet and within just a few hours drive ... 3 to 5 hours?

liquipure
We rented a 1 BR in Bucerias. Casa Linda. Owner is Lori 332-205-7784. It is beach front. There are 3 buildings on the property and about 3 blocks from Royal Decameron. It was great. Pool, daily maid, private beach and more Lori is very nice Texas lady. Google for pictures. canmex87
In addition to P.V. and Manzanillo there are great beaches at Chacala, Rincon de Guayabitos, La Penita, San Franciso & Sayulita. Check using Airbnb and VRBO for rentals.
El Cartero
Check out Cuyutlan. 2 1/2 hours. Do a google search for Cuyutlan Properties and contact Mac or Juan. I prefer it to Manzanillo as much more tranquil while the Cities of Manzanillo and Colima are 30 to 40 minutes away.
gringal
About an hour north of Manzanillo is small beach town with a very upscale hotel...La Manzanilla. Google the name and you'll get all the information you need. They have a site for rentals, too.

I think it's Chantli Mar, but you'll find it on the Google search for La Manzanilla. Supposed to have an excellent restaurant there, too.
canmex87
They are currently building a Four Seasons hotel at El Tamarindo which is just south of La Manzanilla.
kgreenbury
There's nothing wrong with Melaque or Barra de Navidad, either. I recently found this site online and tho I've not rented thru them yet, there are some interesting options for places all along the pacific coast. This link is for a specific property but will lead you into the site to find others. https://www.ownerdirect.com/melaque/vacation-rentals/76476 . Hal
Wonderful expat community in Cuyutlan (the beach that time forgot) love how quiet it is yet close to Manzanillo and Colima. Closest beach to Ajijic 3 hours door to door . Black sand beaches like Hawaii
Mainecoons
If you want to go in the water, Cuyutlan is right on the ocean and has problems of heavy surf, rip currents and undertow. For my money, the town with the best swimming beaches within 4 hours of here is La Manzanilla. In addition, there's some really nice snorkeling nearby at Tenacatita which is accessible again. Santiago Bay, the next one up from Manzanillo Bay also has some very good swimming beaches. Manzanillo itself has issues with undertow and rip currents.
