Article 47 of the General Population Law says that "If the immigrant stays more than two years in a row outside the country, he will lose his migratory status, except in the exceptional cases determined by the Ministry of the Interior."

Article No. 56. A Permanent Resident may freely exit and enter the country, but shall lose his/her immigration status if he/she remains outside the country for more than three consecutive years, or for more than a total of five years during a ten year period. The ten year period shall commence as of the date the Permanent Resident status is granted, in the manner and under the terms set forth in the Regulations.

Looks like RVGringo is toast.

Article 47 and Article 56 were from the1990 Immigration law and were repealed as of April 25 2011 - new Mexican Immigration Law was passed. RV is correct.

Article No. 74. No one shall be able to employ foreigners who have not first verified their legal stay in the country and obtained the specific authorization to render the service in question.

Huh?

Mistake - meant to write 47. Articles you dug up were from the 1990 Mexican Immigration Law and were repealed. No longer valid. The site you posted is from March 2011. The new INM law started Nov. 9, 2012 and went into law in about April 2011.

It is amazing, no matter what the written law is, no one seems to agree.  At the border we were concerned about loosing our "permanente" status as mother was sick in states and did not cross correctly.  The officer when returning said and I quote:  "the ONLY way you will loose your Permanent status is if you commit a horrible crime"...so who knows???......As they say "laws in the U.S are LAWS, but laws in Mexico are OPTIONAL...."    ha ha

I find laws in Mexico are not optional. Maybe you see little evidence to know any different, but I do. ☺️

The 1990 Mexican Immigration Law lasted through 21 years. I feel it will not change. Other laws will.

Oh ya and how about FM3 and FM2's some of us paid all that money for FM2's and then they changed the law so there was no more Imigrado then citizenship, they did away with the imigrado and everyone went permanente no matter what they paid or whatever FM they had. No fair at all!!
