twelveoaks
My wife and I will be traveling to the U.S. and renting a car. Has anyone out there ever rented a car in the U.S. using their Mexican driver's license ?

Can cost more than the rental.
sm1mex
Yes. Some credit cards include insurance on a rental.
ibarra
We have rented cars in the U.S. for the past 20 years using MX DL, no problem (in AZ, TX, IA, and MI). If you have MX car insurance, check with them, you may be covered for liability insurance on your rental.

Credit cards do NOT cover liability. Been through this several times. I even got the credit card folks on the phone while arguing with the car rental agent about the enormous fee he wanted to charge me. Would not rent without proof of liability coverage. Fred Habacht
Remember that some rental companies will NOT rent to a driver that is over 75 and others will not rent to you when you hit 80 yrs old....plus, I have been told that they charge an additional charge even if they do rent to you. tomgates
Rental cars in the US are required by law to carry liability ins. In Mexico, if you rent from Expedia each rental comes with $750,000p of liability ins as "optional liability" is a real scam in Mex.
