There are some Facebook rental groups as well. Lake Chapala Rentals, Ajijic Rentals, Lake Chapala Rentals by Owner. If you use Facebook, check them out. Northofyou
So Jerry Brown's claims that you can find 2 bedrooms for $500 are not accurate? Wow. I guess I will cross Ajijic off of my list. So disappointed.
Mainecoons
It can be done just not in the most expensive areas. And it is getting harder. We are in a cycle of very strong sales which has cut down the supply of rentals at the same time there is more demand. That is a complete reversal from even two years ago. Northofyou
So the strong sales are properties that would normally be for rent?
Mainecoons
Well what happened back in the really down market was people couldn't sell their houses so they rented them out until they could. A few years later they could sell so they did. The ones that are normally available for rent continue in that mode but the others have been sold and that decrease of supply combined with stronger demand is creating a bit of a crunch. At this point I am told by my real estate contacts the delayed sale stock is pretty much gone and they are scrambling around for listings. If history is a guide at some point this will cool down too but right now it is pretty hot. One strategy that works good in some areas is to walk the areas you are interested in and talk to the locals and maybe post some flyers. Obviously that won't work if you're looking in the gated fraccs. For those you have to rely on agents or ads posted by owners in places like the LCS bulletin board. A number of folks have found something by posting requests here and on TOB. There is also a bulletin board in front of El Torito that people post requests on. We handed out "flyers" with our personal information and what we were looking for to the gated communities we were interested in. Talked with the "gatekeepers" so to speak. That generated quite a number of callbacks and we chose La Huerta. Lived there very happily for four years. All things are possible.

Great idea, I just figured they'd toss them. Obviously not.
