Pacemaker lakeside?

Recommended Posts

Probably … but be sure to get a second opinion, as there are some doctors in the area that have a very high incidence of "emergency" pacemakers they implant (at very inflated prices too).  Very lucrative and very low-risk.   I had that personal experience with one of them who actually implanted the pacemaker incorrectly and the battery was set to run out after about a year and a half (as opposed to ten plus years).  I, fortunately, had changed doctors by then, and the Medtronic people found the error.  I was 100% responsible at that point for paying for another pacemaker, as my insurance had already paid for the original one and it was too soon.  Buyer beware!   I see that you are a "newbie" … Just be sure you are working with someone who is highly ethical as unfortunately, it is not always the case.  There is also the habit of some doctors who do "referrals" to cardiologists (for a nice fee, of course) for this purpose.

What’s your diagnosis?  If you google, you’ll find a lot of horror stories. I would go NOB for this procedure. Under the right doctor it’s not a very difficult procedure but being that there’s so many aspects of the procedure (leads, type of pacemaker) that could be abused. Will the doctor use the pacemaker that’s right for you or will he use one that’s conveniently available?

If it were me... I would:

a. Find the most qualified cardiologist based on reputation.

b Have the procedure done in Guadalajara under the best survival conditions.

We come equipped with two legs, two arms, etc. but only one heart...

Best of Luck....

Absolutely no reason to have anything much done NOB.  There are very highly qualified physicians all over the place.  Just ask around.  If you PM me I will send you a recommendation.  I can also tell you about THREE cardiological practices to avoid that you will find locally and one to definitely visit … and it may come as a surprise.  I have had heart issues since birth and I am related business wise to their business as well.  I don't have any vested interest other than in your health and it is disgusting to see how many people are taken for quite a financial ride.  This is not new information.  Hospitals and care here are the best of the best in most cases.  Excellent care is available and the latest and greatest equipment and knowledge is definitely practiced here.    Pacemaker implants are not a dangerous procedure.

Something positive to say about hospitals NOB is their concern for liability issues, for their “accepted standard of care”, for their availability of the medical products that you might need, and that there are continuing education requirements for each technician and nurse that practices there. The fact that you mentioned “three cardiology practices to avoid” is more of a reason to go NOB.

Well, mine saved my life! I thought I was tripping and falling for two years til I went to the US to visit a friend of 30 years. One day I awoke with a black eye. I asked him if he'd seen me trip, and he said, "You never trip! You just keel over!" Sure enough, just needed a pacemaker. A well-known heart doctor at the Lake had already put me in a Holter monitor and never once mentioned the word pacemaker. When a new heart doctor in PV put me in the Holter, he admitted me that afternoon and performed the surgery next morning. I have not fallen since, and I'm sure a fractured skull would have been my fate without that little pacemaker!

The following day I took him to two different specialist at Puerto de hierro who told me he did not need one.. and he is around 3 years later and has no problems..
