sanditoes
Yesterday, my husband and I applied for a Telcel plan rather than paying monthly. A matter of convenience for us. They ask for 3 references which we provided. This afternoon, a rep from a Telcel showed up at our doorstep asking how long we lived here and if we owned the house. Has anyone else had this experience? We think this is overkill to simply get a cell phone package.
sm1mex
No way. We have a plan and no one came to our home.
Michael Turner
I had the same experience a few years ago when we signed up for a $199.00 Telcel plan. No big deal but I was also surprised.
AlanMexicali
Did your plan include a smart phone worth about $600.00 USD?
Michael Turner
Just a $199.00 per month Telcel plan. No phone.

Just a different way of doing things here; their process confirms your address with your references and your stability.
lakeside7
Yes I experienced the same protocol, strange, but remember there is little credit history in Mexico...Unlike NOB where they know when you last visited to the bathroom

vetteforron
Tried the same thing with me. I walked across the sidewalk with AT&T one id and money. I am happy with my plan.
artsnob
I paid for my 199 account for a whole year when I signed up, all they wanted was a copy of my permanent card, I have since got Apple iPad from them and use my phone as hotspot, and got rid of my Telmex account I had for thirty years, works great and never goes off..
