Immigration Travel Letter change Feb 2018

Recommended Posts

Immigration informed us last week at the Chapala office that they will no longer issue travel letters for people who have been approved for fingerprints.  We are not sure if this is a policy for Chapala only, Guadalajara, the whole state or country, we wil be investigating.

Plan ahead if you need to leave while your papers are in process.

In SMA, if renewing a visa including 1 year TR for 3 year TR or after 4 years as a TR to PR one may apply for a travel letter any time following the day the the renewal is submitted including after finger printed and prior to visa being issued. I picked up two travel letters this morning that I submitted Thursday for a 3 year renewal.

If a person has a pre-approved visa from a consulate, a travel letter is not allowed until approved. This is totally different vs what Spencer is experiencing above.
