michael2595
Do you use quality care as your primary physicians and are they bilingual? I looked them up ans cant find what their specialties are. Great to know they have a lab there.

gringal
They have a good range of specialists at Quality Care. I've only seen one, but noticed the board at the reception desk showing the others.
kouros
The lab is a recent additional service for the growing clinic. Yes, the receptionist, the doctors, the lab tech and the dentist all speak English. They are easily understood.

michael2595
I was told they are on the expensive side compared to other doctors in the area.. Any truth to that? Thank you.
757
I have found them less expensive, or equal to, specialist in GDL.
Wookie
You're right about a GP. I always use an internal medicine specialist for a GP.

I haven't yet been to a doctor here so the only reference I have is from back in the states. Used to large co pays and deductibles and have not learned all the ins and outs of private insurance here. Sure is different. So, expensive to me means 200 dollars for a 10 minute medical checkup by a doctors aid or nurse practitioner in a transaction based sick care system and an EKG costing 500 USD and $5,000 colonoscopies. I have spoken to quite a few people Lakeside and no one never mentioned Quality care and the few times I passed the building it looked closed so I didn't give it much thought . I inquired with someone else who said they went to a great doctor there but it was expensive. That was the basis for my question. Quality Care seems to have many specialists on site . Since I am new to the area I Have to get rid of my definition of what expensive is, based on living In America where my sick care insurance ran about 20k a year with high deductible and co pays and my wife and I are in great shape and in early sixties. They seem to have many specialists which is great and I will definitely check them out rather then go to Guadalajara because I would assume many of the doctors at this clinic are from GDL. The new lab there is important to me since I require quarterly blood work . My last set of labs was over 1600 dollars and those bills sure add up. Will definitely make appointment after reading this thread. The fact that they are bilingual and young is also very appealing. Now I need to get health insurance which brings up so many other issues as I travel down that path. I hear of the Bellon agency a lot . Wea and Best were brought up but I don't see them on the mexican list for authorized insurance companies. But that's for another whole different discussion. I do feel uncomfortable asking it on this board because of so many snide remarks and being called a troll by some. Great learning experience for me. Again, many thanks for a simple and civil response.

And Neither Have I since in the states there is a retail price and an insurance reimbursement price which I never see unless insurance wont cover it and I am stuck with a massive bill. Thank you for a well crafted response. I always thought that I could take it with me. . The rules in Mexico must be different but as you can see over my name I am a newbie and I guess you don't like newbie questions but thanks for taking the time to answer me. I don't take answers like that personally, however may I suggest that many newbies who do post may have questions that seem ridiculous but we have no reference. Have a great day. Off to the bank to close the account where I have monies to take with me when my time is up on this planet. 4 1
Al Berca
Maskaras Clinic, Integrity Clinic, Ajijic Hospital, Dr. Leon and more all have a full staff of English speaking medical specialists who come in from their main offices in GDL on a regular basis. You have a lot of choices for medical care. I interviewed four recommended doctors here before selecting one as my primary care physician.

Al--I know from experience and agree with you that the clinics you mention have specialists who come in from guad, usually on a scheduled day of the week. But at Dr. Leon's office I don't believe that's so, unless that's changed. Rather, I've known Leon to refer a patient to a specialist in Guad. sm1mex
QC specialists are about $37.83 U.S. and spend a lot of time with you. They are worth every pesos !
Mrs. Rupert
Quality Care is just that- quality care. The charge for seeing one of their specialists is $700 pesos, and I think Dr. Briseno is a little more. He is the cardiologist that started the clinic along with three other doctors. I have used their services as long as they been in operation. Totally satisfied.
barcelonaman
Just been to clinic. Appx 20 percent cheaper than dialabim across the street for my test. Results are emailed to you and your doc. Also available on line on their website. They offer a home service as well. Just call to make an appointment.good english spoken. As regards specialist costs i paid 800 for gastro at another surgery a couple of weeks ago. Thought dra. Carla was a g.p. who worked out of quality care. Thats it? and for a specialist? The parking lot fee at my doctor's office at the University of Penn was higher since they tell you to show up at least 45 minutes early to fill out reams of paperwork including legal documents that you wont sue them and then you get to wait in the small doctors room for another hour . So the time spent is close to 3 hours and your next appointment is usually available maybe in 3 months if you are lucky and here I hear they will give you their whatsapp number and even come to your home at night and if necessary drive you to the GDl hospital themselves if its an emergency. An Ambulance ride where I used to live was approx 4,000 dollars and not covered by insurance. The system is crashing in the states. Thank you very much for providing me that info. Another person told me the same thing and I thought I must have done the conversion wrong or the other individual left off a zero. And thank you Mrs. Rupert For the endorsement of Quality care.
barcelonaman
You are comparing things with your own country. We are in mexico. Prices have risen constantly here.used to be 600 pesos a couple of years ago.big percentage rise .a normal consult was 200. Now 400. Lakeside is made more expensive with comments like this. gringal
One of the hardest things to get used to is the "sticker shock" of prices in pesos. Google will quickly convert those prices for you. Let's say a specialist is charging 800 pesos for an office visit. After the conversion, that's less than $43 U.S. dollars. This person will not (normally) have you wait half naked in a chilly examining room until he/she gets ready to see you for five minutes while checking his/her watch. Time will be taken, even for a little chit chat. All I can say, compared to the U.S. medical system is: "Such a deal!!!" 1

Newbie's like to convert back to US dollars.. Was at Quality Care this week and heard someone whom I assume was a newbie telling the specialist how cheap his bill was compared to the US. So don't be surprised if the fees go up next week.. 1
