Angus: can you give me a bit of detail on where Joaquin is in the mercado?

Enter the mercado through the main entrance (facing Madero), go down the steps and make the first right. His stall is in the right hand corner (S.West). He also sells fine cheeses, eggs, and the best longaniza around here.

I never recall seeing either quail or duck eggs in the egg section at the San Antonio Walmart during the 18 months I have lived here...

Me neither....over our 6 total years here (and yes, I look).  From 2008 -2012 they were almost always with the other eggs at Soriana.  No more, alast.

Bingo!!!  50 quail eggs from Joaquin in Chapala mercado - $45 MXN.  Thank you AngusMacTavish.  Not sure of the quality yet but will be checking this afternoon.

Way to go, Cincy!  I'll be over next week and hope for same result.

Bisbee, The only way to purchase them was in a little nylon string bag of 50.  4 were slightly crack but they cooked up fine.  I was concerned about freshness but so far they seem fine...
