Snow situation at the Colima volcanoes?

I tried this summer in dry weather to visit Nevado de Colima, what looks to be the only access to the higher elevation. The road would require a four wheel drive with a winch, so I turned back. I can only imagine what snow would do.

Last time I drove up to see the snow (on a weekend) it was like a parade. Solid line of vehicles. Many passenger cars in the line.. I have a 4WD but never used the 4x4 function. Every vehicle made it to the top with no problem.  I did go on a sunny day,and there had been no precipitation for at least a week.

If I had more than two ladies to give the March we were in a push, I might have continued. There was nobody else on the road, my cell was not getting a signal, and the prospects of assistance was nil, so I turned back. I may return if I can join a parade in a 4WD like you did.
