ericurmudgeon
Hola, I need to get a spare ignition key cut. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I suspect I will need to go to the dealer in Guadalajara but would prefer not if possible. The car is a ten year old Chrysler product. Thanks. TelsZ4
It all depends on the key. If it has a chip you need the chip programmed ..if it's a basic key. Any of the key cutters can make one for you.
pappysmarket
Many locksmiths can program the chip also. It's not cheap whoever does it.
John Shrall
I got a new key cut & programmed along with a new fob at the key store in Chapala. It's in the second block past the stoplight on Morelos on the right. There's a sign hanging over the door in the shape of a key that says llaves and a really little carport next to the office.
pappysmarket
Yeah, they've been there forever and always great service. If it was more than just one copy of a simple key that's where I always went. Glad to hear they're still there, great folks.

REC
Agree on Cerrajeria Aragon. I've seen them do some real magic in a couple of situations for both home and auto keys. Definitely the go to guys for anything even remotely tricky. Nice folks, very responsive, extremely knowledgeable, make house-calls, etc.
gringohombre
The little kiosk in front of the Coca Cola factory on the caratera in San Antonio does great key duplication.

ComputerGuy
The guys in the shacks around town may not do ignition keys that have chips, and certainly don't do fobs, so depending on your needs, Aragon is the best bet if that is what you need.
carol r
The key guys in front of the CocaCola dist. in San Antonio made a duplicate of my Honda ignition key that has a chip. Wasn't cheap but it works just fine.

ericurmudgeon
Thanks all. Interesting experience. The key does have a chip which I thought would be a problem. Not so apparently. Got the job done with a minimum of fuss. Not cheap but certainly good to know it can be done locally. Never like only having one key. ?.
