Two more hurricanes forming that may join Irma

Recommended Posts

Mudgirl, excellent point!  Scientists preaching about the dangers of man made climate change have absolutely nothing to gain except encouraging Americans and the world to search for and adopt cleaner renewable energy sources.  But the evil lobbying mega corporations have everything to gain when they convince the public that there is nothing to worry about and to just sit back and allow them to continue fracking, polluting, destroying entire mountains and whatever.  Drill baby drill!  Let them get filthy rich while everything goes to Hades around the world.  Maybe just maybe we are not the entire cause of our climate changing.  But please open your eyes, study the evidence,  and recognize we are doing great harm to this planet regardless.  The giantic island of Sumatra famous for its rain forests and the only place where tigers, elephants and rhinos coexist in the world just recently, mostly in the past ten years has had nearly all of their forest burned down to build palm tree oil farms.  Only about 10% of their forest remains.  Now they are eyeing Borneo to do the same.  Wake up please and recognize that things cannot continue as they are!

According to extensive research conducted by Exxon scientists during the 1970s, the continued burning of fossil fuels would result in global warming, sea level rise and more powerful hurricanes. Instead of warning the general public of these dangers, Exxon has engaged in a 40-yearlong disinformation campaign to convince people that these dangers do not exist. Anyone who still denies the reality of man-made global warming and its consequences has been duped by this disinformation campaign and holds an opinion contrary to those of Exxon's own research scientisis. You can read their report from 1978 by searching for ''Exxon knew'' on the Internet. Of course, 98% of scientists have now verified what Exxon knew decades ago. Let me suggest that you science deniers deny the existense of gravity, jump off a building and see what happens. Denying the reality of man-made global warming is just as suicidal.

"Of course, 98% of scientists have now verified" YES of course, if not they would no longer be receiving free grant monies, so their reporting has to read that we in North America are responsible for "it all". If indeed North America brought pollutants down to zero they would be out of a job and worldwide pollution would be near the same. Of course we should be picking up after ourselves. A lot of unrest on this issue can be put at the feet of Gore's prediction of about year 2000 and the terrible, terrible, unbelieveable, unlivable condition we were going to be in. Didn't happen and they and all who promote and believe this have lost a lot of credibility. So we don't hear you. Sorry.

Yes, it's hurricane season, nothing new. But the strength of these hurricanes in the last couple of years is unprecedented. I'm curious- what do man-made climate change deniers think the VAST majority of the world's scientists stand to gain by lying to the public about the damage we continue to do by our greed? (whereas the companies that continue to cause this destruction have plenty to gain)

SIMPLE  Whoever is paying them the most " grant monies " their reports will read what the payer wants it to read or they don't keep their job. This is nothing new so why be so "surprised". Been going on for ever. DDUUUHHHH!!!

Because they need a job.

The VAST majority of scientists do not think that man made global warming exists because they know that they have no way of measuring what is happening closely enough to tell.

If you really go back and look at the start of all this, you will find Maggie Thatcher involved.  The coal miners in England were giving Maggie fits with strikes and Maggie started this to scare the miners back to work by wanting alternative energy sources, mainly natural gas.

If you want government money for grants there are two things that will almost always guarantee a grant.  "Man made global warming" is one and "for the children" is the other.

Who do you think does all this "alternate green energy" stuff?  Small mom and pop companies?  Huge companies do it.  Ever seen a wind farm or a solar generating station in CA?

Ok climatistas, you have a lot of time to wring your hands worrying about people like me, here's your homework assignment, read the following articles and report back to us what you think they say.

Guess I got my answer- man-made climate change deniers obviously get their info from sites which push a corporate agenda and feel very comfy and smug  with their heads in the sand. Scientists can get grants for all kinds of research- they aren't that interested in promoting falsehoods, except the ones who are paid by the corporations who benefit from lying to the public. But do continue to enjoy your state of denial. Me, I fear for the world my grandchildren are inheriting.

That's a fact and some serious research was undertaken to alleviate the problem. A balloon was attached to a harness that was fitted to cows hind quarters and when gas was passed, it was captured by the balloon with the plan to recover the trapped gas and claim carbon credits. Unfortunately the methane produced was lighter than air and in some cases, as the balloon filled, tended to lift the rear quarters of smaller cows off the ground making them edgy and cantankerous and interfering with their ability to calmly graze. The project was terminated with a final report on the entire project titled "Cows Do What Cows Do" - it was a very very short report.
