WideSky
Lawn chair or the like too, there are few bleachers and it gets crowded. We usually sit on the field closer to the walls and things get a bit hectic. Often teams will set up along the outside edges so just be aware. They usually are slowed down by light drizzle. Take an umbrella and make sure your camera is fully charged or you bring extra batteries. Beer is cheap and there have been several food vendors (look for the biggest lineups). ComputerGuy
It's going to be a soggy field; I won't be wearing good shoes.
Mainecoons
What's the schedule on Globos this year? Also, don't forget sunscreen, assuming we're going to see some sun by weekend.
Guiness
Just come as you are and enjoy the show. It is the biggest gathering of both expats and Mexican Nationals all gathering in a happy and fun event. For the first timer, be prepared to be amazed on many levels. I think it is the best event of the entire year here. Saturday, come soon! Enjoy!
ComputerGuy
For those who don't know: this is a hot-air balloon event... but the balloons are made by hand, by local teams, of tissue paper. Location: football field, at the corner of the carretera and Revolucion, beside Salvadore's Restaurant.

ComputerGuy
One thing the schedule says for the Globos day is that "they will be constructed largely on site". If you haven't been, this is not quite how it works; these teams have been preparing for months in many cases, and some have even given classes and welcomed volunteers. They bring a huge pile of finished globos to the meet. The one thing that does get done there during the day is hooking up the burning pots to provide the hot hair. Half the fun is watching an intense gang of people trying to get their balloon in a position to fill up and take off without catching on fire. One thing I love about Mexico is on display here, apart from the great festivities: no fences around the setups. Everyone is welcome to get as close as they please. Kids especially. "Back home", authorities wouldn't let you get near something like this.
Mainecoons
Thanks for the information and schedules, folks. I hope we don't get rained out but this storm may pump a bunch more moisture into this area.

Lakesider
Unexpected incident could happened too so watch out. ..but overall it's a fun -filled event for everyone. Globo below for an old file got entangled with the wires and eventually engulfed in flames.
Mainecoons
We actually had one crash in flames at our house. Singed a little paint and created some excitement. I sure hope this doesn't get rained out as we think our Oaxaca student at Iteso, who usually is here on the weekends, would be sure to get a kick out of it.
