egcallis
Anyone know a local source for 1" thick rigid fiberglass insulation board?
CHILLIN
Never seen board just by itself. It is usually white styrofoam, or yellow urethane foam, which is is stitched with metal lath. The idea is that you concrete over the metal lathe. This is very strong. The hardware store by Farmacia Guadalajara in Ajijic has some samples. Kind of depends on how much you want - a couple sheets, or a truckload. It is not cheap.
Yo1
It's not strong at all. At least if you try to put a nail in it to hang a picture, your picture will tear the wall.
Artlife
It not local, but Home Depot carries pink rigid foam insulation.
mudgirl
Don't know about locally, but sewing stores like Parasina sell about 1meter square sheets of 1" rigid styrofoam. Used for craft projects, etc. But you said fiberglass?
CHILLIN
If metal stitched foam is not strong - there is something wrong. Fiberglass insulation would only be used in a high temperature application, a medium high temperature insulation. Not kilns, or anything like that. egcallis
Thanks but its for sound abatement so it needs to be the rigid fiberglass (the other materials don't have the proper physical properties)
