Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta highway

Recommended Posts

Apparently, this new highway will cut driving time dramatically. I would think fewer people would come here for festivals and such and won't clog up the roads as they will head out to PV instead.

Isn't there a "back road" system that you can take to get from Guad to PV?

Short answer is 'yes'. Won't get you there any quicker 'tho, but will be less costly due to no cuota fees.

Yes, and the scenery is fantastic.  Mascota is a good lunch stop, or even San Sebastian, if you get a late start.  The mountain driving will keep you awake.

There are also a few potential side trips along the way.  Check your maps. Volcan is an interesting one.
