pappysmarket
10:30 June 25 first lightning and thunder of 2017 in Puerto Vallarta. Yay!
camillenparadise
Just got my first thunder and sprinkle south of Sayulita, Pappy! Guess my many raindances have paid off!
tomgates
Bit more than 7/10" in Ajijic village.
johanson
Thank God. I can come back to Ajijic, I was waiting for the rainy season.
CHILLIN
Welcome mosquito season - clouds of little and big black ones this morning. Luckily, my lemon eucalyptus oil has arrived, still, probably no shorts until next year.
pappysmarket
Unfortunately, concurrent with the rainy season comes pothole season as I found out this morning. How can they appear THAT fast?
pappysmarket
No mosquitos in PV yet although I saw one last week and no bobos.
Bajabrady
The rain really brought out the mosquitoes in Ajijic.
John Shrall
Dora has been hammering us in Guayabitos for the last hour. Lots and lots of rain. I hope some of this makes it to Ajijic.
pappysmarket
Nothing from Dora in PV but we got a nice rain from the east an hour or so ago. Infrared indicates we may be in for some more tonight. More potholes to follow.
giltner68
It's nearly the end of June, normally, for the year, we should have 8.7" by this time, we have 3.83", not looking good. Of course it could open up and catch up, but for now?
CHILLIN
Mysteriously, the mosquito population is down at least 70% overnight. I guess the swallows, bats, lizards, and flycatchers have been working overtime.
pappysmarket
Major deluge right now in PV. Incredible close lightning but so far only a power flicker. When you can smell ozone you know it's close!
cedros
It looks like the rainy season started June 25th. Almost 2 weeks late.
Mainecoons
Not really. It started and then was interrupted and has resumed weakly. In the time we've been here I've noticed the season can have these interruptions in August but this is the first time I've seen the usually strong June rains so weak and intermittent. We are on track for less than half the usual June rains as it stands now, not looking like a good start for July either. The trade winds/monsoon trough are weak and further south this year. giltner68
I thought the Chamber of Commerce said it only rains at night?
tomgates
Funny the GR ran the big article on June 30 on the big upcoming drought and it has rained every day since then.
johanson
I sure hope it keeps up. We are behind for the year, but way ahead for this month. Thank you Guadalajara Reporter for changing our luck

giltner68
But, these are the same people who are sure global warming is going to kill us all in 20, 30 or 50 years for sure?
pappysmarket
My Grandpa gave me some good advice many years ago. He said don't believe anything you hear or read, and only half of what you see. He failed to explain how to filter out the bad half.
giltner68
Actually, weather became the new cash cow when researchers figured out that Gov would give them million$ to crank out negative data the Gov could then use to tax and control. It's been a comfy symbiotic relationship - until now, when the truth about the data is coming out and absolutely zero of the gloom and doom warnings of the last 20 years have come true. Weather is the most commonly discussed subject worldwide in all cultures, in part because it used to be nether political or religious?
