camillenparadise
Got a real hankering to make a big pot of minestrone....any kidney beans available Lakeside? Prefer dried, but canned would do.
Kyle
SuperLake sometimes has them canned
nolajoe
El Granero had a sign in their store today that said that they have kidney beans.
camillenparadise
Oh thanks, Joe! You get a frozen bag when I get there in August!
More Liana
Camille, in case there are no kidney beans, I've been using La Costeña canned whole bayo beans for making chili. They're not quite the same color, but they work really well--and they're always available, at any grocery store.

Mine is almost as good as Tony's.
ComputerGuy
I also make my chile with bayos enteros from La Costeña, red and black. The bonus is no soaking required.
tomgates
Be careful with the dried ones. I made some chili several years ago and were still hard as rocks after 24 hrs of soaking and cooking...
maw7815
I use the Bayos and kidney beans in my chili. Super Lake does carry them.
pappysmarket
I'm having good luck with a copycat Wendy's chili recipe I found online. It uses onion, green pepper, and celery and comes close to what I remember at Wendy's. I sub a can of whole tomatoes pulsed in the food processor and use the chili season pack that I get from the States and just the Bayos Enteros. Google Is our friend. camillenparadise
Minestrone is my friend! Maybe because one of my grandmothers was Eleanora Trotti from Genoa, Italy! I'll let you know how it turns out.....

I used to sell Wendy's Chili at the Monday Market and sold out all the time. The funny thing is that they all thought my name was Wendy! LOL! Travis
Besides the obvious Superlake, I've even seen (canned) Kidney beans at El Torito. And I was frustrated. I'd been to three stores looking for Bayos Enteros!
