Blood Work INR

Recommended Posts

Hubby needs to have his INR taken regularly BUT we have a small problem. I haven't been able to get the Coaguchek XS strips for his monitor. It is NOT the same as a blood glucose monitor. I can find them in GDL but they are a bit of a PITA to get. So our other option is to have someone come and take his blood for the test. NO, I can't take him to a clinic - both arms and both legs have fractures, so he doesn't fold and getting him in and out of a vehicle is well - you get the drift.
SO - has anyone found any strips locally???
OR - do you happen to know which clinic might make a house call?
Thanks.

Wide Sky - get in touch with Nurse Mina at Mi Casita in San Antonio - when she was caring for me a couple of years ago she had a delightful couple from Iztlahuacan come and take my blood for testing.  The Sra. could take your blood and I never knew it had happened.  I recall that it was not cheap but they were wonderful.  Failing this, ask your Dr. locally or ask Dra. Carla Cueva Flores if she could pick the strips up for you when she is in Guadalajara.  We have found our Guadalajara Drs. who come out to the lake particularly kind about bringing supplies that we cannot find locally.

Dra. Ana, wife of Dr. Hector Valenzuela, both of them at Quality Care/Medicos Especialistas, is a hematologist & might be able to provide the strips for you locally.

So Clinica Montana (keyboard doesn't to the ~ with the n) (on 5 de Mayo in Chapala) will come to your house for $165 pesos; considering if we went to the lab it would be anywhere from $75 to $150, we figured a pretty good deal; in and out in under 10 minutes, professional, painless and had the results emailed in 6 hrs.

RVGringo - our cardiologist can get the strips but as he only comes on Thursdays, I'll just pick them up on our next trip to GDL.

Thank you everyone for your response.

Try the farmacia next door to Clinica Mascaras. They have been very good about getting medications from Guadalajara that they don't carry or are out of. Usually they get things we need in a couple of days and often in one day. They are very helpful.

The owner is Lulu (I do not know how that is spelled but the U in Lulu is pronounced like you or the letter "U" ) She is very hard working and also runs the Go lab several doors to the West of the Farmacia as well.

She has a very good reputation and is highly thought of  by those I know in the Clinica Mascaras.
