IMBurnen
Would like to learn more about the night sky from the Lakeside view. I tried various online uni's (Khan, etc.) but they all want to teach me the principles. I want to learn the names of what I see at night. I also do not have, and would not use, any app that purports to photo the sky and tell me what's there-tried my friend's iPad and Siri knew less than I did. Any suggestions for local (only) products, or is there a group that meets? Thanks.
Torontonian
I too would be interested in going out with someone who is knowledgeable re the night sky. We still have another month before rainy season.
El Cartero
You might try skyview, a free app that works with Iphone and Ipad.
Jabonera
I've been a skywatcher since I was a kid... Glad to see others are interested. I found a really neat site that will give you an interactive view of the night sky above Chapala or whatever city in which you find yourself, worldwide. http://www.astroviewer.com/interactive-night-sky-map.php Enter all your location details & then click "Current Sky" just before you go out... All will become clear! Enjoy!
