Bisbee Gal
Someone wants to give us a local check in pesos; however, we don't have a MXN bank account. It's for around 3,500 pesos. Will anyone cash it?? If so, where?
jrm30655
I'd try the bank it is drawn on. Why not cash?
John Shrall
Many years ago I received a peso check from an insurance company. The only way I could get to the money was to open a bank account and deposit the check. Perhaps things have changed but I suspect not. Banking in Mexico is a bit odd when compared to the US. They have a lot of very rigid rules.
Natasha
Have them make the check out to "Portador" (bearer). ANYONE can cash it, so take it directly to a bank -- preferably the one it's drawn on. They will cash it no questions asked.
Ellie
Checks made out to Al Portador cannot exceed 5000 pesos.

sue
I was given a cheque in pesos for just over 3,000. I was able to cash it at the bearers bank with my passport and mexican immigration card.
Bisbee Gal
I took the check to Bancomer on which it was drawn, and they cashed it with my passport (did not ask for visa). It was under 4K pesos.
