You might reconsider your move. At the least take a short lease. Mexico is not for everyone. Or pay someone to be your life coach (Mexico) and not have to rely on this free board.

Sincerely, best of luck to you.

First of all, I have never said anything derogatory about Mexico or Ajijic, you guys provide enough negativity to chase away even the most positive of people. It just seems that a few and I mean a few of you are always set to pounce.

Life coach? I think you meant a personal assistant and I have contacted two places that say they provide that type of service, but nothing yet, but one of them I heard has an emergency back in the states. If you know of anyone who could help my husband get his footing , I would really appreciate it, I will not retire until May 31st. He just needs a thorough " get to know the place" tour, maybe a few days at the most, not looking for free help will compensate.

Let me be more specific. 10mg Lisinopril is about $250p for 10 pills. I take 1 40mg pill a day. That would be 360 pills for a 90 day period or $9000p or $479US verses $41 thru my ObamaCare insurance in the US.

I buy 30 pills at Farmacia Guadajalara for about 1/2 of that!

WOW!!!! I was warned about how nasty you are RVGRINGO and you just showed your true colors. I hope I never , ever have the displeasure of ever meeting you. I am sorry your life did not turn out as you planned.

I would suggest that when you are settled in here you visit the specialists you require.  A GP referral is not required.   A 45 min visit will cost approx $30.00 US.  That will give you a contact should an emergency arise & you may also learn about different procedures & meds that may be better than the ones your current doctor prescribed.  A number of us have had our prescriptions revised for the better.  When you are ready quiz this board again for specialist recommendations.

Denise, it was quite clear to me that Tom was letting you know that you can't always get what you want here. That was great, great advice and pertains directly to your question. Your reaction? Well...

Hmmm......   RV "nasty"?  I don't know anyone who would describe RV as nasty.

Yes let's keep this going in a friendly mode. I sure wish  this web board was around when I was preparing to move down and once I got here in 1997. It would have saved me from making many little to large mistakes.

No kidding Pete! All we had was the paperback "Choose Mexico" by John Howell. On May 1st, I will have lived full time in Mexico for twenty one years.

El Saltos I saw your note and I buy the lisinopril at thte Walmart in the USA for $10 for 3 month. They will fill a prescription for  qty 180 or qty 360 if your doctor will write it that way. Now the insurance won't pay for the larger quanity but cash works. Just get your physican to re-issue your scripts for the 6 month or year amouint. The script will only be good for 2 refils on the 180 and one on the 360. They can do this on anything except schedule A drugs or narcotics. That's the way we handle it. I bet many of your drugs ar eon the Walmart $4 plan. I buy the 20mg and wife buys the 10mg.

Another thing to keep in mind about prescriptions is that many schedule A drugs such as Oxy are virtually unable to be purchased here. Only a few pain specialists are allowed to prescribe them and you have to go to Guadalajara to a special pharmacy to get them. We had several guests in our BnB who wanted to move here but were unable to for that reason. Terminal cancer patients can usually get what's needed but beyond that I am told it is much more difficult.
