Need 220V electrical service installed

Recommended Posts

Our neighbor  needs 220 electrical service installed at their house to operate a soon to be needed medical device. Any recommendations for an electrician that can handle this?

Thank you.

The voltage is different here.  Its 127V plus or minus 10% for wall plugs ( one phase). So you might need a voltage regulator to give the proper voltage depending on the info you should get from the manufacturer of the medical equipment. You must have two phase service to your house to do what you need to do.

Yes each of the 3 phases is 127 volts +/- 10% and they are not 180 degrees but 120 degrees out of phase with each other therefore any two phases gives you 220 volts.  If each phase was 180 degrees out of phase with the other the voltage would be 254 volts,

Keep in mind if their current CFE service is a single 1 phase meter, (just check the meter face or CFE bill to confirm it) they'll need to notify / apply with CFE for a change to that as well, and CFE will visit to change the meter to a 2 phase meter.

Not difficult or expensive, just necessary.     The electrician may handle this or assist them with it.
