Lois Schroff Watercolor Demo March 16 & 17

ois Schroff - Ajijic, Mexico --
"I have always been attracted to works of art that carry hidden wisdom emanating from the brush of the artist. I continue to reach for creations representing more than can be revealed by the five senses. My desire as an artist is to find ways to bring to the viewer’s attention to the forces originating in the soul/spiritual world, which are then reflected into the material world –the interweaving of the rhythms of the Cosmic Breath."
Lois Schroff, a Virginia native, decided in her forties to follow a lifelong desire to paint. Without a formal arts education, she began by taking classes in art history, drawing, pastel and oil painting and found her medium in watercolor. Looking for answers as to WHY anyone struggles to pursue the arts, Lois was more than satisfied by what she discovered in a book by Rudolf Steiner entitled: "The Arts and Their Mission."

Seeking to learn about the potential healing properties of color led her to Europe and her mentor, Liane Collot d'Herbois, an artist and anthroposophic painting therapist. For over 25 years, Lois studied the unique Collot method of watercolor glazing that incorporates an understanding of how color becomes visible in the atmosphere of our planet and is based on the color theories of J.W. Goethe and Rudolf Steiner.

Lois has exhibited widely in the US and her work is found in private collections in North America and Europe. She is the author of "Color - Its Relationship to Soul and Spirit", published in 2003. In 2005, Lois moved to Ajijic, Mexico where she continues to paint, give workshops and teach art to adults. In 2010, Lois produced a DVD, "Spirit in Watercolor, Goethe's Color Theory applied" - a step-by-step instruction and demonstration in veil painting. In 2012, her latest book, "Physical and Spiritual Experiences of Color" was published.
