midnight
Some birds are doing a bomb-style flyover on my freshly laundered clothes! I don't have another place for my clothesline, and DO have a large tree nearby. Does anyone have an idea to discourage the flight pattern?
suegarn
The only thing I know that is sometimes used to deter other birds from flying too close is a mechanical replica of an owl call. They used those at many of the waterfront restaurants up where I used to live in Canada to prevent the crows and other birds from trying to steal food off of customer's plates outdoors! Sea
I hang old music cd's. Cull out some of that heavy metal. It's great when it's sunny. The discs move and throw off light. Not so good when cloudy. It's tough when you have a fly through area. It's a very difficult problem. If I was desperate, I'd experiment with throwing old sheets over the laundry.. Yeah, problems with drying speed, but I have some chairs that can only be covered with towels.
artsnob
I used two real looking plastic owls on my terrace in Mex City, no more birds or pigeons and the squirrels are afraid also....
midnight
Thanks All for the tips. I'll try out a few. Never heard of the mechanical owl call! Have been thinking of hanging a sign in english and espanol for birds to "please choose an alternate route due to heavy air traffic and increasing percipitations"
