Metuchenmama
A US Consulate officer based in Guadalajara was shot in the chest. He was either entering of leaving a parking lot which had a bar that comes down. A man in blue pants and shirt was walking back and forth nearby and watching for him. When the officer from the consulate drove up to the bar the assailant turned and fired through the windshield at him and then ran off. The victim was shot in the chest and was taken to a hospital where they report he is doing ok. This was all caught on video. There are 9 US consulates in Mexico. There has been talk of reducing the number,, one being Guadalajara. Hopefully this will not help make this become a reality.
CSOKI
The FBI offered a US$20,000.00 reward for information identifying the attacker. ( El Informador)
Xena
The victim who was leaving the garage had DEA credentials on him. Officials said it was a professional hit, an attempted head shot, so he is lucky to be alive. The shooter will likely be found dead soon.

sm1mex
Gosh if they close the consulate in Guadalajara, how will we get our passports renewed?
RVGRINGO
Either at another US consulate, or back in the USA, I guess.
daisy2013
He was probably refused a visa, the consulate processes many of them but gives out so few and they all have to pay every time they apply.

Revenge for a visa refusal? This sounds rather unlikely. Guess it's possible but you'd have to be pretty disturbed mentally. Of course just speculation but if the official was DEA related, could have something to do with Narco retaliation. The hit itself was rather clumsy, one shot fired and then ran? A real pro would have made sure. Who knows but sure hope this doesn't become a trend.

If it was a professional hit, it was a bad one. Single gunman? Distance from target? Shooting through glass at that distance? Not advancing after first shot to finish? Shooting in plain sight of video without disguise? Captured that may times on video? If it was a paid for hit, the next one dead is that gunman. Intercasa
It was a fast double tap, if you look at video 2 shots his windshield, also there seems to be a guy on the phone directing it all from within a store. Hit man teams are usually 4 to 6 people. They caught the shooter but wonder if they got the other members of his team.
Yo1
Closing the consulate in Mexico's second largest city makes NO sense. Stop circulating rumors and endless speculation when it serves no purpose!
pedro malo
Look at it closer, only one shot is fired from the pistol and only one impact to the windshield. What you interpret as another impact is an optical illusion caused by whatever he has hanging from the rear view mirror which moves as a result of the first shot and the windshield mount itself. Both these objects are present just before the one shot. Also it's clear there is only one recoil. Full screen it and watch the pistol fire and then the windshield separately. At least they caught him!
pedro malo
News just reported the shooter is American as already posted. Interestingly, one of the Mexicans viewing the last surveillance video posted by Spencer, makes a comment about the guy looking like a "Norte American". News also confirmed "only one shot fired". bmh
considering the guy was originally from India.. Norte Americano is not how I would describe the shooter
johanson
And as we all know, a person from Mexico is also considered from North America. And if it was said in Spanish they might well be talking about a North American coming from a North American country where Spanish is the first language
