Help with a question about taxes for a Mexican widow, Pls.

Can a Mexican widow to fill a 1099R form if she does not have SSN? she lives here, she is Mexican, but she was married to an American Citizen and she gets widow pension.   TIA.

a 1099r is the form you get from a pension, or investment company when you have income form them/

 

do you mean 1040nr    non resident tax form

 

where she getting pension from

 

if married to a American she should file with him on a normal 1040. not a 1040nr

they both may be exempt if low income,

from what you wrote, she must be getting widow pension for US.

what kind of pension.

under Mexican tax treaty, non residents filing a 1040nr have to 30% tax on social security

 

is the pension if not SS over $5000 a year
