CAPITAL 360 ATM LOCATIONS

Recommended Posts

I have obtained a 360 Account based on recommendations of various people on the forum.  I have a printed list of the ATM locations.  Only one appears to be in our area, Foliatti Ajijic.  When I went there today, there was no Allpoint sign on the machine, so I did not use it.  Boy is it dark in there!  I didn't have much confidence that this was the right place even though it is on their list.

The other locations listed are in Ixlahuacan, which is not convenient.  If you have the same Debit card, I'd appreciate some input on the best places to withdraw money without incurring fees.  Also, does it need to say Allpoint on the ATM?

None of them say Allpoints.  They say Banorte and ask you to agree to their fee for usage but when you see the iithdrawl there is no fee.

However, all that being said, people are reporting none of the Ajijic or Chapala machines are working.

The best deal is to go to CIBanco and use their machine.  You can take out up to the equivalent iof $1000 USD in pesos for the grand total of  $1.17.

I went with a friend this morning who took out 19000P at one time.

It beats taking up to 3000P at a time from a working Banorte ATM and having to keep repeating the process until you reach your allowable amount.

I am a long time CapOne360 user and unfortunately it appears that their card is no longer any good for fee free withdrawals Lakeside.  I went to the Folliati Casino today and did not find a Banorte machine, only two commercial ones as you noted.  The hostess said that there was no Banorte machine there and that she personally knew that the El Torito and Ajijic Oxxo machines were not functioning.  I had just tried the one at El Torito and the screen was split and overlapping itself...even hitting the machine did no good as this used to fix it when it seized up.  The Banorte machines in Chapala near Bancomer and in Soriana are not on the Allpoint system and will charge a $46 peso fee.  As Shira noted above, the best bet now is to use the CIBanco machine for $17.40 which is 85 US cents and take out larger amounts.  This is the lowest fee anywhere Lakeside and you can get all you need with one transaction.  The rate seemed right up to snuff too at 20.64.  You can even increase your daily allowance with CapOne360 to whatever you need that day over their default amount of US$1000 and set it back or leave it higher if you wish by calling them.  The only other alternative is Charles Schwab unless you can qualify for USAA being military or related.  If CapOne360 is all you have to use, just go to CIBanco from now on and take out larger amounts.

A friend tried 3 different Guad Oxxo locations last week and none of the machines would read his card.  Others had reported the same problem here two weeks ago before the Lakeside machines quit working all together.  The card then worked fine at CIBanco, so the problem lay with Banorte.  For regular withdrawals of larger amounts paying the 85 cent fee is cheaper than driving to Ixtlahuacan to save it.  And with what's going on currently, that machine may also not read the card either.

So much trouble when things don't work.  I am thinking about calling Capital 360 about this.  I know they can't fix the machines.  Perhaps they can reimburse for the use of other locations?

Also, where is CI Banco?

Here is my biased take on the ATM problem with Cap one 360:

Remember that Cap One does NOT charge you anything when you use ANY ATM. So, think of BofA charging 3%fee  or Wells Thieves charging $5.00 us. etc.

I checked Bancomer, Santander and Banamex. I withdrew 5000 pesos...that was not the limit but all machines offered that as one of the choices. Banamex charged 30.74 mxp and gave me an exchange rate of 20.70 to 1 after the fee. Santander wanted slightly more and Bancomer less (but their machine was empty).

So, while there is all this "shaking"  and "anger"...note that the mid range fee at 20.70 was $1.48 us....that is cheaper than anything except Schwab...and a few other hard to obtain ATM cards.

I don't like paying a fee but this is less than the great majority charges....and you get to use almost any ATM you wish...no driving to obscure locations or walking into dark casinos.

Don't bother, my friend already tried that.  It has to do with which machines Banorte keeps on the Allpoint system.  It seems that if it's an old style machine that says it'll charge $86 for the transaction, then it's still an Allpoint machine.  If it's a new machine that charges $46, it's not.  None of the older style machines work here currently (expect removal or upgrade to the new style) and the new machines aren't reading the cards, but that could get fixed sometime.  Use CIBanco instead and take out larger amounts to pay fewer 85 cent fees.  Like Fred said, Banamex was the next best.  My experience has been that the exchange rate is better at CIBanco and Banamex than Santander or Bancomer but the variation is only $0.05-0.11 peso.  I've also tried both my CapOne360 card and Schwab card in the same machine for the same amount and the CapOne card gave me a slightly higher rate, $0.11 better.

The Banorte branch in Old Town here in PV just posted signs on their 3 ATM's. I was sure it was a limit on withdrawals and I was correct. Surprisingly it welcomes you to ask for up to $50,000 pesos. I suspect they are expecting the peso to weaken further and are looking for dollars now.
