Be advised that most of those recommendations are good for a DENTIST, but what you are asking for is who specializes in implants.

Implants are NOT done by those dentists Eloy, Haro, etc, .they do  crowns, and they ask an orthodontist from Guadalajara to come and do the implants for them. I have seen one of them for an estimate at one of the local offices and turn him down for a few reasons. I finally went to an orthodontist in Guadalajara for my implants and to another who specializes in crowns. I wanted the best because of three bad experiences in the area.

You have to allow a few months for the whole procedure.

This is an old post, but the "three bad experiences in the area" jumped out.  I have an excellent dentist in Tucson, but, of course, will be needing to change when I reach my final destination in Mexico. The issue is dental implant vs. partial. The cost of the first for two teeth is $7200 USD; you could buy a car for that. The bad experience: many years ago in Alamos (small town southeast of Hermosillo in Sonora), I just walked into a dentist's office (no such thing as recommendation) and had a crown placed. A few weeks later, the tooth abscessed and the tooth was extracted. My fault. Should have realized something was wrong when the cats wandered all over the procedure room.  So, going through some of these other stories, I begin to be terrified all over again.  So, did you get the "best" who and how?

These days there are at least of couple of Dentists and Dentista who perform implants. Get first hand recommendations and IMO, an 'interview' appointment from any you choose to use. AND, there will always be a 'bad story' about any dentist/doctor/pet sitter if you ask enough people... INCLUDING in the USA!

If it were I, I would go see Dr. Eloy Barragan first. Yes, he probably still brings in an Implant Specialist from Guadalajara but so what!?!  Next maybe ask about and then see Dra. Candy who does implants at her office across from Walmart.

I had a 'fine' 3-tooth bridge done by Dr. Edgard Macias at DENTAL EXPRESS in W. Ajijic. I researched the 'computerized dental equipment/procedures' he uses (only one around who has bought/brought that expensive equipment into Lakeside) in the US and then interviewed him about his experience using said equipment. I am thoroughly happy with his skills and the bridge. I understand that he/his office may be doing implants BUT I don't know his skills with this and am not recommending him for this procedure.... merely becaue I have no knowledge. Just because he did a fine bridge does not necessarily mean he will automatically do a good implant... those are two very different procedures.

Both Dr. Barragan and Dr. Haro bring in specialists from Guadalajara to do the implants. imho, you would be in good hands with either one of their offices.

I put off getting the implants and opted for a bridge instead. Bad mistake because I lost another tooth because of it. Interestingly enough, it was a wisdom tooth growing in sideways that caused the whole mess in the first place. Yeah, that's right, a wisdom tooth decided to make an appearance at age 55. Who'dathunkit. BTW, the two implants that are in front support FOUR teeth... it's not an implant for each tooth is the point I'm trying to get across.

Dr. Edgar at Dental Express does do implants,... He put one in a year or so ago for me no problems I I had him do 2 more this Spring and am just waiting till I can have the crowns put on.  There is a waiting period from the time they implant the post till it is ready to support the crown.  I was pleased with his work.
