sm1mex
Don't know anything about him but Dra. Candy Dental Health One is highly recommended. Voted best dentist for 2015 and 2016. you won't be disappointed.
RickS
One of the most-recommended Dentist is the office of Dr. Eloy Barragan. Also in that office is Dra. Consuelo del C. Sanchez. I have used both and have been pleased with their work and professionalism. Both are fluent English speakers and are located in Mirasol between Ajijic and Chapala. Local 765-5584 eloycy@hotmail.com Another often recommended Dentist is the office of Dr. Hector Haro in Riberas, also between Ajijic and Chapala. There are other dentists in that office also. Fluent English spoken. 765-3193 hectorharodds.com Both of these offices will be a tad more expensive than some others, including probably Dental Express..... but both are excellent and for me worth the price. Good luck wherever you go!

CHILLIN
Dr. Candy now has a "sedation room" for people who have a lot of pain during dental work. She is a second generation Dentist, her father is semi-retired and makes all the crowns. Very up to date equipment and top of the line materials. Dr. Barragan is good too. But he never mentioned to us that many of the NOB dentists have overfilled the filling, and as you age, they fracture the tooth. Mind you, not many can afford crowns and implants in the North. A filling there can cost as much as a crown here.
gringal
If you're coming from out of town and want to see a busy dentist such as Dr. Barragan, be aware that appointments are three weeks or more after your call. A friend visited last summer with the notion that he'd get the whole dental implant procedure done here less expensively than in the States, but was only going to be here for a month. Didn't work out.
tomgates
Most times implants can take 3-4 months between setting the implant and having it secure enough to put the crown on it. Beware of the quacks that say it can be done in a couple days.
gypsyken
After trying two other dentists, I settled on Dr. Don Olivera at Mascaras Clinic and was satisfied with him.
bmh
The problem with all these recommendation and dental tourism is that these dentist do not have time for their old cutomers. I fell on the street flat on my face, broke a front tooth in 3 places and one of thse great dentist I have seen for year did not have time to see me so I went to dental express who took care of me.. I am going to be looking for a good dentist but I will be going to Guadalajara where there is a large choice of good dentists.
sue
He did my implants as and I am completely satisfied . I have been going to Dental express for a few years after trying some of the other dentists I have had crowns a new bridge as well as routine cleanings and filings by some of the other dentists working there . I have found all the dentists at Dental Express to be good.
nana
Be advised that most of those recommendations are good for a DENTIST, but what you are asking for is who specializes in implants. Implants are NOT done by those dentists Eloy, Haro, etc, .they do crowns, and they ask an orthodontist from Guadalajara to come and do the implants for them. I have seen one of them for an estimate at one of the local offices and turn him down for a few reasons. I finally went to an orthodontist in Guadalajara for my implants and to another who specializes in crowns. I wanted the best because of three bad experiences in the area. You have to allow a few months for the whole procedure.

You were correct for most of the dentists mentioned ,however Dr. Edgard Martas took additional training up North and abroad and has been doing implants for more than a year. He did not do my bone graft that a Specialist from Guad came here to do, Dr. Edgard did my implants and you are correct there is many months of waiting 4 - 6 depending on how the post sets between putting in the post and attaching the crown. Mine are great he charges far less than many of the other dentists and in my opinion does a better job.

Keep in mind, never to have any bone grafting or implants without a MIR. I believed the Dentists in Ajijic, when they told me that their panoramic X-Rays is all I needed.. My implants failed because both Dentists failed, my bone density was not strong enough for implants. One of the Dentist sort of gave me a minor reimbursement, but the other one Dr. Hector Haro over charged me in America Dollars, and refuses to answer my phone calls or emails. This Dentist is the most expensive Dentist in Ajijic. My advice to you is to go to Guadalajara, and have the MIR it is only 1200.00 pesos., before any implants or bone grafting is done. Never pay American Dollars to a Dentist in Ajijic or Guadalajara. I have suffered for 4 years going through all this healing and pain, loss of much money, and loss of more bone density. It has been pure Hell.
Lizzy T
There are business cards for Dr. Hilda Tavizon, who does implants and bone grafting in Guadalajara, she is trying to correct my situation. Her site is www.dra.Tavizon.com. Her business cards are at Mis Amores Hotel in the SW corner of the Plaza on Hidalgo No. 22. Her prices are great, and she has 20 + years expirence. Never think there is no pain. Be smart there is always pain with Dental Work. Well, the proof is in the pudding. The MIR CAME BACK saying one of You dentist split the jaw Bone in order to get the implants in. That is inhumane, unheard of and criminal. Dr Haro is just about the most expensive dentist in the area, but he he one of the best. I also find it hard to believe he charged you in US dollars, I have been going to him for 10 years and have never been charged in dollars. Only peso's If you are having an implant I don't think you get an MRI . you get a panoramic scan.. I have had both an MRI on my knee and a scan for an implant. They were different. i must say I admire your courage naming names and using your real name and photo.. It's not something I'm brave enough to do.. Lizzy T
Yes Dr. Haro charged me US dollars. $1600.00 to be exact, plus, I don't have all the bills with me. There was a bottom denture involved also. I can file at Profeco to receive all my money back. I would think that exposing the bad Dentist in Ajijic, will make everyone think twice before going. I am telling you the truth. I have the receipt with me. Would you like to come with me to his office to collect my $1600.00 usd. On the receipt in the left hand side on the bottom, it says: Proud member of Chicago Dental Society, and he is not a registered member of the Chicago Dental Society. I have 2 witness that were with me. One of them is a Theater member here in Ajijic. Well, the proof is in the pudding. The MIR CAME BACK saying one of You dentist split the jaw Bone in order to get the implants in. That is inhumane, unheard of and criminal. Hint, he just got his training a year ago, but didn't have it when he worked on me. 4 years ago. I think I can name him even if I signed a non-disclosure paper, I am checking with Profeco. I would love for these to have the pain I had for all those years. I don't think they care about women the way they do about men.
Guest bennie2
there is NO a specialist in ajijic who does implants, end of case. they will charge as much as they can & try to get USD. both drs & dentists will tell you anything to get the work. (even if they are not qualified). there are no lawsuits here. every season there is another group of suckers to work on. be suspect of "specialists" who come in for this kind of work. did you call the chicago dental society? what is the big deal about naming names? the dentist is "proud" as the receipt says. if i was getting implants i would see a dentist who works w/a hospital in guad. most older people dont have strong bones.
