New Doctor Ajijic

El Cartero

Recommended Posts

Dr. Lawrence Whitehurst who I believe was a US Military has become accredited in Mexico and is located just west of the Libramiento on the lake side in the little row of houses, the only ones on the block with even numbers.  His has a purple arch in front.  I usually go to Guad but thought I'd try him, was impressed and thought I'd share.   Phone number at office is 766-5265

I've enjoyed his service as well.   As I recall his rate was consistent with others.    My take was he was an excellent doctor.   Prior I have driven to Guadalajara for a GP so saves the trip expense.    A good quality doctor is worth far more to me than a lesser but cheaper one and I've been here long enough to have visited most of the locals.

Yes, a good doctor is worth his fee. But what does "consistent with others" mean? Different charges abound.  Why can't the people who said they liked this man say what his charges are, if they are so pleased with him? We all pretty much know they don't all charge the same. And some folks are loyal to a local doctor whose fee is quite low. If the question is asked why can't it be answered--here.

I visited Dr. Whitehurst and was very happy with his treatment. He's very thorough and takes his time getting to know your health problems.

Very interesting, no?

Also, the fee must be a secret, only available to the privileged among us, or else it is like many Mexican fees/prices, depends on what you look like you can handle. :(

It is unusual to have so many pleased patients asked several times for the cost of an office visit and receive no answer at all. I know doctors have different rates for office visits but this is the first one that seems to have a secret rate. That, along with Jim Bowie's catch of the catbird complimenting himself doesn't do much for my confidence in this new doctor.

Not sure what the big secret in fees is......

I do have to say sure sounds like he is practicing in many fields?  Good question is can he practice in hospitals in Guadalajara?

Why did he leave Virginia?  Why did he leave Maskaras?

Does he have enough contacts to refer you out to specialists as medicine is specialty based nowadays?

His personality means little to me when I need a DR...I want experience, contacts, rights to practice, hospital rights and of course has to fit in folks budgets, sad to say money is king!

Many of us received this same introductory letter via email- apparently using the LCS directory. It was sent to me by a friend that had received it. Does not necessarily mean that the poster is the Dr. Why must everything be posted on this board - why is it so hard to just call the office?

why even have this board if you have to make a phone call as well over the cost of a basic visit?

Fees for what?   First time visit?  The local drs are or we're 500 pesos a visit.   The numbers are pointless because some drs will see you, prescribe a blood exam, have you back even when the results are positive, charge again, then want stool and urine samples, charge you again and so on.  Fees in my opinion are not relevant - being a cash cow is.    If you are so concerned about price phone and ask, don't rely on others because all your questions differ.
