ear wax removal

This is an odd topic to post but I am hoping that the members can help out. I need to have ear wax removed beforeI can be properly tested for a hearing aid.

Can anyone recommend a doctor that can do this. I would prefer a specialist on ears mas opposed to a G.P.

Thanks

Use the search function.  You would be surprised how many times this subject has been discussed over the last decade.  Ask Polo the hearing specialist who comes to LCS in Ajijic every week.  045-331-571-4088

Dr. Rodriguez at the Ajijic Clinic on the mountain side of the carretera at the corner of Javier Mina (across from Gossips) and across Javier Mina from Multiva will do ear cleanings for the standard fee which I think is now $250p.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Just got back from Ajijic Clinic seeing Dr. Rodriguez. What a nice man ! He did a great job and my hearing is already better.

Last week I went to Chapala Municipal Clinic, paid 70 pesos and had my ear wax efficiently and painlessly removed by a doctor.  I repeat the cost: 70 pesos!!!!!!!!!

Where is this? Is it Seguro Popular or available to everyone?

Harry or stantheman, might you know the street the Chapala Municipal Clinic is on?  Thanks.

The Chapala Municipal Clinic is on Chinchorros at the corner of Lindavista. Take Zaragoza north from Pepe Guizar for 5 blocks (mas o menos), turn left on Lindavista and it is about 4 blocks on the corner of Chinchorros

There is no charge for treatment but you have to pay for supplies used. NO other payment is allowed.

One great use is for transfusions.

Don't know about your statement of "no charge for treatment" Dave0415 - I had to pay 70 pesos upon arrival and registering at reception and they didn't even know at that stage what supplies would be used.  Perhaps the 70 pesos was just a newly instigated registration fee?  I have been going to the clinic regularly over the past few years for the same treatment and initially they never charged, although the previous time for this treatment they did charge me 100 pesos.  My last visit a week ago incurred no charges for supplies although all that they used was some Aqua Oxigenada and a new syringe.

For people intending to go there for the first time (very little English spoken apart from the lady doctor that I saw), first register at the reception counter (hole in the wall) for computer input.  Then a short distance further along the corridor to a small office, then sit down until called by a nurse to check blood pressure, weight and height.  Sit down again until called forward to see a doctor (there usually is more than one doctor present).  Take a book!!!!!

Thanks, dave, I see the facility on my new Chapala map.

Thanks, stantheman, great to know about this facility. Does it seem to treat all minor conditions? (I would assume more serious things like heart attack are not treated here.)

Don't quote me, but I believe that they treat most minor things and send you on for anything that they can't handle eg xrays, heart, etc.

Do you think, for the items they send you on for, that the basis of payment may be on a similar basis and to a similar facility, i.e., not to an IMSS or Seguro Popular facility?

I think they may be collecting up front for the supplies expected to be used. They used to get a fair number of walkers who did not pay for supplies on the way out. The fee charged to you certainly does not cover Doctor and Nurses fees.

I have to get mine done regularly. You'd be surprised how many doctors are complete klutzes when it comes to earwax. I've had several fail to remove it, and left me with bloody ears.

So, who have you found to be the best for removing earwax?
