JayBearII
Haven't driven over there from Ajiijic in several years. Would appreciate an update on roads, restaurants, etc.

Intercasa
We went 2 weeks ago. Construction on roads on other side of lake and few places to eat breakfast or dinner, kind of like Chapala, a ghost town after 8pm. Tapalpa is a much better bet with more to do. Al Berca
Agree with Spencer. After so many years Mazamitla is not that much fun for me anymore. Having recently discovered Tapalpa, its lack of tourists and the extremely helpful and friendly townspeople I think Tapalpa will be my get away place for the next few years. mnaiman
Very boring place in general. Usual trinkets. would not waste my time. Roads were fine
bmh
Tapalpa is not a hopping place either. The place is very attractive but after spending 2 weeks there recently, I was ready to explore a new place. Many Tapatios have week end places there So it starts getting lively on fridays but it is pretty dead during the week. Also it is cooler and wetter than Ajijic. Best chilaquiles con pollo I have ever eaten - Saturday breakfast on the second floor of the permanent market on a corner just a block away from the plaza. Many different puestos with many types of food for Saturday breakfast, from multiple varieties of fresh juices, licuados, pozole, birria, menudo, chiles rellenos, hotcakes, and on and on...
