cedros
I have the license plate number of a motorcycle in Chapala. Where can I go to find out who the owner is?
gimpychimp
Hopefully nowhere. I wouldn't like to think that some stranger who saw me in my car could take down my license number, and manage to go somewhere and be provided with my name and home address! That would be pretty creepy.
cedros
But what if you wanted to find out who hit you and ran?
CHILLIN
The motorcycle will unlikely to have insurance. Confrontation will lead to denial. Just get you car fixed up once in a while. Get used to it.

Semalu
Did you also happen to get a picture of that white car that backed into mine when it was parked in downtown Ajijic the other day? The only alternative is to report it to the police and give them the license number. They are the only ones who have access to that information. Mind you, they will likely tell you the same thing the other two posters did....just get it fixed, like I am doing.
gimpychimp
I guess you could go file a police report with the license number you have, but when you figure in the time you will spend, and the fact that he most likely has no insurance and very little money, and will say he didn't do it anyway, it is way more aggravation than it is worth. Fixing cars here is pretty cheap. I would just fix it on my own dime rather than have all that aggravation and maybe even more if you had to go to court.
