nothernewbie
Hoping to get some recommendations for sprinkler system both installation and maintenance. Would like to get two or three for comparison. Thanks
Semalu
Jose Luis Ruvalcaba through Chapala tree service. A top notch pro. Look under Tree Services under advertisers along the right side bar.

El Cartero
Ask your gardener. Or, there was a fellow, fluent in english, who advertized under Rainbird in the directory. Then there is the garden store a store or two west of Fernando's body shop just west of the Waffle House. There is no maintenance, if you need a head changed just give whover you elect to use a call and they'll come out.
chapala45900
another vote for Luis at L&R water gardens....our system works very well, and we would highly recommend him too. His employees have been with him for a number of years and are well trained and the job is very smooth and efficient. Luis always checks things himself too, another bonus for his work. El Cartero
I think it's called the Lakeside Directory that you see for sale in most of the local gringo sales places, like realtors. I am trying to remember his house. I think, as you go up the mtn from the donut shop in Ajijic and take the first right, Pedros used to be on the n/e corner, it should be on the left side. There is a sign in front saying Rainbird, sorry I forget his name. I will search for is card and post if I find it. Both he and the guy from the Garden Shop have done good work for me and I have no complaints.

CHILLIN
Those spray sprinklers waste a lot of water. The dried out areas of the U.S. and Canada, on expensive water meters, seem to prefer "soaker hose" under landscape fabric (keeps water in and weeds out). Don't ask where to buy locally, I found a big pile of Fiskar soaker hose in a garage sale. Had to order the fittings from the U.S. however, they are not always a standard size. RVGRINGO
I have a simple requirement: If it will not grow on its own, in the area where it is planted, let it die and try something else. Here in Tucson, we have “easy-care landscaping“ of pea gravel, cactus and a few desert-hardy green trees & bushes. New additions may need watering until they establish roots, but are on their own after that. Weeds do attempt to grow after the “monsoon season“, but a spray of glycophosphate eliminates them quickly.
CHILLIN
Some people just got to have the hissing of summer lawns: Quote He bought her a diamond for her throat He put her in a ranch house on a hill She could see the valley barbecues From her window sill See the blue pools in the squinting sun Hear the hissing of summer lawns He put up a barbed wire fence To keep out the unknown And on every metal thorn Just a little blood of his own She patrols that fence of his To a latin drum And the hissing of summer lawns Darkness Wonder makes it easy Darkness With a joyful mask Darkness Tube's gone darkness darkness darkness No color no contrast A diamond dog Carrying a cup and a cane Looking through a double glass Looking at too much pride and too much shame There's a black fly buzzing There's a heat wave burning in her master's voice The hissing of summer lawns He gave her his darkness to regret And good reason to quit him He gave her a roomful of Chippendale That nobody sits in Still she stays with a love of some kind It's the lady's choice The hissing of summer lawns

CHILLIN
Yup - sad. I forgot to mention that Laura at the Garden Center, by 711, in Riberas, sells various qualities of landscape fabric. She also sells bird netting, to protect things like mission fig trees from birds, etc.

El Cartero
Sorry, no. Maybe he's no longer here. Have you an aversion to the guy west of the Waffle House - the equipale guy is sort of in front. There is a young lady there fluent in English. I've used him and found him reliable.
