losgatos
Any legal concerns with a family member with a U.S. drivers license driving my Jalisco plated car with my permission?

AlanMexicali
My wife, a Mexican National, says vehicles are insured not drivers on insurance policies and I can drive anyones´ vehicle as long as I have their permission and a valid drivers license. That is the state law here in the state of San Luis Potosi. She does read her car insurance policies when renewing or changing companies before signing them. bournemouth
We always tell our insurance agent when a friend or family is going to drive our vehicle plus give them a letter in Spanish saying they have permission to drive the vehicle. If you have concerns about police stops, then notarizing that letter is one extra step you might want to take.
luvsdawgs
It is with foreign plated cars that one needs permission if not a family member, a letter from the owner is sufficient. It is not legal for your mechanic to drive your car without it, although that is SOP here.
